Hello,
so yesterday I did my very first wormhole exploration. 2 days I was probing a system and couldn't get a lock on a specific site, so trained my probing skills higher to use more probes. Yesterday it paid off. A wormhole that was stable and had nobody in it.
After talking it over with some friends I flew in solo with my destroyer. The first space was pretty empty except for some gravimetrix & ladar sites (which didnt interest me). After scanning several sites I found a second wormhole deeper in space. Eagerly to find something I jumped in.
In the second room, I scanned and immediatly found 20 sleeper sites. After reading up I tried my luck and flew my destroyer to a radar type site. There I encountered 4 frigates, 2 cruisers and 2 cannontowers. Sufficient to say I almost got one-shotted :S Although I lost my destroyer there, I enjoyed exploring these things. But I have a few questions:
- Is there a way to see what you can expect at such a site? - What kind of ship would be needed to survive the massacre I found in that complex?

Edited by: GreenGuy on 20/08/2010 06:59:29 All wormholes have locus sigs, these J-numbers help identify the class (level 1-5) and the side effect bonuses (these can be negative bonuses too).
Once you have found out the class and effects, you then need to adapt your ship and fit accordingly. In general, I think BC's are the cheapest soloable wormhole ships, and as you work up to class 4-5, you will need multiple ships and logistics. (I believe the tengu and legion can perform well solo in class 4's given the correct fit.)
Hope this wall of text helps.

Well after reading that site, it seems i ended up in a Class 2 wormhole. I flew towards a thing called "Sleeper Data Sanctuary"........
Guess I'll have to train alot more to firs tproperly fit my thorax and later on move to battlecruisers & the like The vastness of space is where I feel confined. |

The Thorax will most likely die horribly even in C1 sleeper combat anomaly well maybe you`ll manage to do it with warping in and out. You need at least a decently tanked myrm/brutix, or better yet a drake. Also the sleepers switch targets pretty often so your drones arent safe either. GL with exploring mate :)

Yeah, i got that from reading the page from the link.
I lost my little destroyer, was fun to fly and reasonably fitted for mission running and exploration. So now I need to refit my other catalyst, or wait a couple of days and fit my thorax with small blasters/railsguns and fit it as well for mission running L1 & L2 + exploration of radar sites in known space. I'll probably fit the Thorax though, been flying three months in the catalyst now and I want to step up a bit.

Heh, this reminds me of the good old days when you'd get posts from new characters talking about heading out into the vast expanses of 0.0 space on day one. Sounds like the author is heading out to W-hole space just as quickly as he can.
You've my salute, nubbin! Way to stare end-game in the eye and refuse to flinch. ;)

I noted an interesting thing in C1. After I killed all the sleeper ships, I sent my drones to kill the Sirius towers, the towers did not switch targets, they kept shooting my ship, while my drones kept shooting the towers. Not a huge help, but this way you can save some ammunition.

Its not much good for killing sleepers, but if all you want to do is explore, I recommend a covops. I've been exploring W-space for months now and I trained up this alt to fly a Cheetah. Its something to do when I don't feel like carebearing or roaming with my mains. I just wander W-space taking in the sights with my cloak up. Also, always warp at range.
Anyways, have fun and Fly Safe.

Did I read that right a Destroyer? Solo? Wormhole? Thoughs 3 things dont normaly go well together man.
c1-c3 you need a good BC with good skills solo. At c3 you realy are going to probly want a BS or Tech 3 I would recomend a Group for C4's and higher or using Caps with great skills. Is it a rock? Point a Lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship? Point a Lazer at it and profit. I dont realy see any differnces here. |

Tenpi, don't feel bad. My first trip to w-space was in an Incursus into a C5 before I knew anything about the wormhole classes. I warped to 100 thinking I would just have a look see and was instapopped by one of the towers. So I decided to spend some time looking around in my pod. Took some nice pictures of me ramming Sleeper battleships.
Anyway, now I'm flying T3s and just got through living in a C2 for several months. Keep at it, w-space is a lot of fun.

Edited by: Torrian Flash on 22/08/2010 14:32:14 I don't feel bad about it. Today I managed to get in a radar site and found a single item worth 6mil, so exploring does reap in the rewards eventually.
Flying around in my thorax at the moment, trying to get used to the extreme close range of the blasters. Probably need a few more support skills to get em right as I seem to hit for lower damage then expected.
Deffo avoiding the sleeper sites for now till i get to BC level. Will definitly keep hopping into WH space just for the fun of it.
edit: woops wrong char
And yes I don't flinch from end-game. Just because my character isn't as "awesome" on the SP as other doesnt mean I need to stay away.

That just made me crack up
I use either a drake to hunt sleepers or a Purifier to hunt pc's
both fit with probe launchers ofcourse
