Edited by: MightyMandria on 14/08/2010 00:41:13 On a new account, what is the quickest way to make that account pay for itself, eg. earn 300M per month?
* Assume support and a pile of ISK from an older character.
* I've had it with mission grinding in Eve, so grinding research missions may be out, but I understand that there are groups who do this for pay.
* Prefer semi-passive ISK earning which might tend to factor against trading. However, as stated, a pool of cash is available.
Suggestions?

Well if you dont mission and want to avoid trade you're really only left with the passive clickfest of PI for steady passive income.
There was a person who made an almanac about making plex in 14 days exploring Theres also mining but it wont pay til you're in that hulk.
The quickest way still remains missions
And yes there are services for grinding standing. ------------------------------

Most Reliable: -Mission Grinding -PI (despite being a lot slower, it will get you there within the month if you know what you're doing) -Possibly mining... but it would take rediculous (macro-like) hours and even then you'd have a hard time.
Not Reliable, but possible: -Exploration (luck out on exploring even in highsec and you could hit your quota in a day or two, but you might also find nothing for a month). -Trading (300m isn't that much, but if you're really lazy about it or inexperienced, it might be unreliable.) -Scamming (Obviously, hit or miss depending on how much of a sucker you can find. PS: Don't do this if you value your alt's reputation)
Honorable Mention: -Anything Industry related can be a cash cow if you do your homework, but much of it has a massive up-front investment tied to it. Not for the faint of heart, you could loose a lot of money here if you're new to it.
That's all i've come up with off the top of my head, i'm sure there are other means. Currently the most passive income around is in PI (IMO) and frankly the whole process is boring as hell.

If you're semi active, you could look into doing wormholes?
Last night, my fleet was running a C4, and we made about 150-200million each for a single op (which lasted about 3 hours)

seriously, getting a plex should never be a goal, but a bonus.
if your goal is actually to get 300m a month, and don't know how, the chance are that it going to take you alot of time grinding, if you use that time in real life, i am sure you will get 15 euros or whatever amount in a month.
play the game, don't let the game play you.

Edited by: Misanth on 15/08/2010 11:42:36 Salvage thieving, should take you tops a few hours of skilltraining and basic hang of the concept.
From there the natural expansion is exploration, hacking, and next to kill the PvE'ers and live off their loot.
Minimal investment in time, isk, and skillpoints.
(ofc PI, POS jobs etc would be an alternative, but takes a bit of isk investment and alot more time to get into, low sp-requirement tho) - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

Edited by: Jennifer Fenring on 15/08/2010 12:09:06 -------------- A combinbation of the following should do it:
a. PI b. AFK mining c. Datacores
ad a)I don't know anything about PI so better ask someone else or do some research;
ad b)To train for a Hulk takes some time but you can be afk for 15+ minutes, unload, rinse and repeat. Hardly time consuming, profit around 5-7 million/hour;
ad c)Datcores requires good standings so it requires a time consuming investment in order to make it work. After that you can earn 2-3+ million a day even when nog logged on, so 60-100+ million a month. Datacore prices are on a steady decline though.

On the other hand they say it's a total clickfest, and boring. If you have isk, I would agree that trading is probably the best solution because it's mostly passive and can make a huge pile over time.

First, you should be looking at 51 days. Start the game with a buddy referral and get the 3 free weeks. You'll likely need to buy that first plex or first month for another 30 days. Making 300 mil in the first 21 days without using skills that require the full version is worthy of a different conversation perhaps.
Looking at 51 days makes it easy if you want to talk missions. You could train the first 2-3 weeks. Maybe don't even play the first week as you get 4/3/4 learning and into cruisers with some base skills...maybe the first 10 days even. Once you have cruisers, blitz through L1's and L2's until you are ready to start L3's. Get Battlecruisers, blitz through L3's, start salvaging. Do a few more core skills, drones 5, some tank skills and you can hop straight into L4's in just a couple weeks. At that point you're looking at maybe 20 mil a mission on average. If you really need isk, get a good mission with bounties and run it every night but don't finish.
A friend recently followed this plan and has had good success. Battlecruisers (Myrmidon), Hull Upgrades V, Drones V and very nearly Scout Drones V before the 1.6mil barrier. He could crush L3's and had to be a little picky on L4's but it worked out quickly and gave him a great base to start with.

Funny, I would say the exact same thing about wormholes. Except they require a hell of a lot more up-front knowledge, isk, and time investment to be even mildly successful.
Not that I think trading is amazing, or that wormholes don't make great isk. I know they do. But, new players have a lot to skill for and a lot to learn prior to stepping into that world unless you want to be lead around by the nose for a year or more while you catch up on the more effective minimum skill-set.
