PURELY HYPOTHETICALLY, OF COURSE !!!
Assume you have a 15kt version of a MADM (nuclear land mine) with a timer, and you could place it anywhere on (or near) the planet, and set it to go off at any point in time from today to the next, oh, say, 20 years (assume it works as advertised - as in, roughly the same effect as the nuke dropped on Hiroshima).
For the sake of hilarity, a split second before the bomb goes off, a parallel universe is created, the one you're in has the bomb going off, the other one has the bomb as a dud and you have a sudden heart attack and you die.
Where would you set it and what time would you code in ? Or, you can decide to NOT set it.
Feel free to NOT explain your reasoning. In fact, you probably shouldn't explain your reasoning.

I'd set it up anywhere there was a live video feed to one of those digital roadside advertising signs.
A camera would be focused on the bombs button that when pressed, would cause it to explode. A cage would surround that button with a kitten wondering around on the outside of the cage. I would have the ability to lower the cage remotely, thus exposing the bombs button to the random wanderings of the kitten.
I would then wait near the digital roadside sign for a nice looking women to walk/drive by. Once an attractive women is found, the cage would be lowered and in big letters the following caption would present itself: "Show me your boobs or the kitten gets it"
After the top comes off, the cage would go back up and the kitten gets to live to see another day.
Yes, yes I am Dr. Evil.

Somewhere in the Large Hadron Collider. They spend however long it takes to get it working and when they finally turn it on to begin their biggest experiment, boom! They'll think it was a black hole or something.
Or Eyjafjallajokull, CCP could use some incentive to release things sooner than SoonÖ

If you choose EA can you wait for them to finish Battlefield 3, or is it a no time to waste kind of thing?

Do they plan on releasing any other rehashed **** or publishing any more rehashed **** before Battlefield 3?
I do not hold much hope for Darkspore and think we should abort the crysis before it happens. [See wut i dun thar] _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Can we go back in time? Say to when Oral Roberts said he had to raise several million dollars by some date or God would kill him...
OTOH, setting a nuke off in a dramatic fashion for the end of Mayan Calendar could be entertaining. Unfortunately a 15kt nuke isn't very dramatic.
Got it. The Burning Man to top all Burning Mans.

Here, in the deepest point accessible without digging. Setting it off somewhere in December 2011 (NOT after 2012 starts). Just for the heck of it, even if it would probably result in nothing more than a minor set of tremors
Originally by: stoicfaux Can we go back in time?
Nope. "Today to today+20 years" for blow-up time, or no blow up at all.

I had high hopes for Spore when I heard about it, but that game has as much playability as a brick. And Darkspore just looks awful.
I'd wire it to a push button detonator and seal it in a deep cave with a cat.

Well if dropping an atomic bomb on the Bikini atoll lead to the bikini, then I'm going find a small island, name it "Two Bandaids and a Patch of Velco", and set off the nuke on it.

New York - just so they stop making films about that town getting attacked by aliens and change it to LA.
Reason: Slow motion hawt chix running along the beach is more appealing than illegal alien cab drivers getting blown up with lasers as a paradoxical punchline.

1. Find a nice quiet place that can be linked to at least half the present prevailing 2012 stories 2. Rig the mine there to go *poof* on 21-12-2012 3. Add another story about how the people of the world will be saved on that place found in 1. 4. ..... 5. profit ========================== Nothing is true, everything is permitted. ========================== |
