Edited by: Protokill on 31/07/2010 16:26:33 Edited by: Protokill on 31/07/2010 16:25:27 I gotta tell you guys, I have been playing this game on and off since 2003. My original account (wish I remembered the info) is long gone. So I recall back in 2006 buying it again and always being on/off about it. Its strange but this has got to be the only MMO that I have consitently returned to despite some of the things I didn't like about it like no actual avatars, learning skills, and so on. Well currently my character only has about 5m SP (heavily related to combat) and I did a lot of that doing what I hate: missions. The PVE in this game makes me want to kill a kitten.
What I'd like to know from you veterans (and I'm sure there are many) is what do you recommend I do to get my feet wet and start my slow progression to 0.0? Even if you all know of some well-written guides out there to link here I'd appreciate it. This game is also so much harder without a decent corp to belong to (any recommendations on good corps would be great since there are entirely too many to choose from). What I want is meaningful PVP while still learning the rest of what EVE has to offer beyond the mind-numbing boredom of Empire space.
Thanks for reading and hope to see some of you in-game. I've only been back 2 weeks!

I'm not much a veteran, but it worked for me nonetheless.

Thanks, Root, but I've been in enough PVP games to know that a sort of NRDS policy that the OP in that thread suggesting is doomed to fail. It just isn't the nature of PVP to do anything except shoot first and ask questions later.

Try joining a pvp oriented cooperation. Some do have min SP requirements, others dont. Check the recruitment channels to find one that suits you. GL.

make yourself a racial cruiser that can tank 3 BS's and a few support ships. Get the align time down as low as you can. Go to http://evemaps.dotlan.net/ and find a nice .1 system, or a chain of .1 ~ .2 systems and set your ship up for the specific rats there. Learn to monitor local chat so you can see when baddies come.
This is clearly a signature. |

Please don't kill a kitten. I'll meet you anywhere in an unarmed Armageddon and let you kill it if you promise not to kill a kitten.

If you have read the whole thread, you'll see that it's NBSI-ish now

Edited by: King Rothgar on 31/07/2010 21:55:16 Buy yourself a stack of t2 fitted frigates, go to a high/low sec border (low sec side) and kill noobs noobier than you in belts. You'll figure out what to do from there. Assuming you aren't a complete pvp disaster, you'll be an outlaw on the first night. Obviously you'll need a hauler alt so at some point before you run out of ships. So you'll want to setup a second toon on your account and train it to fly a t1 industrial and use cargo expanders. That will take around 2-3 hours of skill training I think. Perhaps a day if you have to train racial frigate to 4 first, but I think it's only 3. If you go totally broke, kill the belt rats and you'll have enough isk for more frigates in no time. Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

Stealth whine detected.. 'Where is Incarna? Get rid of learning skills'..
Seriously though, I'd also recommend Roosterton's suggestion.

Join either of the corps undertaking RVB and get some pvp experience for a while, and while pewpewing look about for corps in 0.0/lowsec that would consider taking you on?
