Whether hubris or ignorance, this request is self-serving and completely out of touch with the decreasing quality of development, testing and project management as empirically determined by thousands of players.
Nothing more to be said that hasn't be eloquently stated above other than "No mother****ing way would I cast a vote that falsely promotes a flawed game development and publishing methodology."

Simply put, people don't want to pay for CRAP, we want our games to have core systems that work. We should be able to concentrate on fighting reds in local, not fighting the GAME at the same time!
As I said earlier in this topic, the reason why people are ****ed off for real this time is that we KNOW that CCP can achieve even regular nodes that can handle 1,000+ fighting in system, in laggy but functional conditions BECAUSE WE HAD THIS A YEAR AGO!
We know it CAN be done because it HAS been done. What is unacceptable is that CCP has clearly not maintained the game code in a responsible manner and has allowed subsequent upgrades to degrade the core game systems without bothering to correct it. ...
Can't emphasize this enough.

Originally by: Brannor McThife It was a sad day, the day we were asked to vote... and an even sadder day when CCP unstickied this thread to try make it go away.
You insult us twice. Why don't you just lock it and move it to a hidden/restricted forum while you're at it?
<yoda>Sweep this under the carpet, you will.</yoda>

This is a perfectly legitimate tactic by CCP. By not fanning the flames that they originally fueled, CCP enables the fire to die down. People will go back to their everyday, mind-numbing stuff and forget about some absurd and off-their-****ing-rocker request of an already irritated community.
By unchecking the "sticky checkbox" CCP intends for this post to slide off of page one and into the annals of epic EVE poasting history...

Assuming current employment or the offer of employment elsewhere, what makes EVE a great product on which to work and CCP a great employer? For all of the issues that we, as players, face with the client, with the server and with inane forum moderators, there are likely plenty of hard-worked, mismanaged and frustrated CCP employees.
CCP is still a relatively young and immature company that has only just recently ballooned up in size to where they can consider addressing multiple projects. Their internal project management, execution, testing and roll-out methodologies are still being worked out as the last two EVE "expansions" proved. Apocrypha 1.5, as good as an expansion as it turned out to be, is well over a year old in its execution. What followed more recently with Dominion and Tyrannis is the epitome of half-baked planning and testing with a dash of internal politics thrown into the mix. The current CCP work environment is putting out mediocre product.
Whether the jobs are in Iceland, the UK, the USA, China or India (QA outsourcing), they put a person in the mix of a volatile and immature project management environment that appears to still be figuring itself out.
If a prospective employee has been HTFU in other project management and development jobs, then he or she has a chance. Otherwise, fresh meat entering into the "Scrum" may find themselves with a sore bottom and an irate playerbase [undeservedly] as CCP's upper level management have so far isolated themselves from recent **** storms.
In summary, be very careful when considering employment with an entity that is currently going through growing pains, recently releasing mediocre product and poorly managing its customer relationships.
Just sayin.

The eloquent and lucid responses in this thread come from a community that cares quite a bit about a game that many have played for over half a decade.
CCP Zymurgist's [intentional?] trolling of this caring and sharing community demanded a response. Zymurgist's ignorant request for a pat on the back was so blatantly off-course, that a course correction was needed.
Any other action, such a voting for EVE in this European poll or playing the role of fan boi, does a disservice to both the poll's audience as well as CCP in terms of honest and open customer feedback.
I hope that CCP continues their recently renewed review of server-side and client-server performance challenges.

So this award ceremony takes place on August 14th. What if CCP wins the best Online Game? What then?
Do more unsuspecting punters spend their coin to keep CCP executives, investors and employees in Ferraris (or new Snow Cats) whilst those addicted to the game live with CCPs bumbling efforts to keep the masses sated?

They won.
Yeah I know, hard to believe what with the entirety of eve being completely unplayable.
Judging by the population distribution high/low/null I think most players couldn't care less about fleet fight lag.
Ah, not a safe assumption. As *many* have poasted in these forums already, many high-sec toons are merely alts for low and null-sec PvPers.

i mad
This.
I do PI on various alts and that update description made absolutely no sense to me in terms of a change to the way in which planet-based materials are harvested. Put more time into PI and the results are greater. Put in less time and the results are diminished. That is the *current* state of affairs.
It would be nice to have a better understanding of what will be new or changed w/PI.
And 40 players at a time for the instanced Sansha PvE raids? Out of ~40k sitting on the server? Wow. That level of exclusivity greatly diminishes the value to the 99.9% of the other players logged into the game. Create at least three simultaneous "attacks" across the New Eden galaxy and then the experience might have a chance of being more equitable.
I am still at a point where recommending EVE to friends as a really cool game worthy of investing their time is a no-go.
Oh, and gogo necro! Some threads never fully die.
