While out mining recently I happened to check to see how many moths were ready to attempt to escape the blackhole of my Wallet when I discovered I was 2M isk richer than I'd expected. A few moments later while I was pondering the source of my wholly unexpected windfall a capsuleer initiated a convo in which he wished me well and said I could take a little break from rock busting. I'm quite impressed with such generosity. I bought a very nice vessel with the donation.
Has anyone else been bestowed with such largesse? I'm sure there are many tales in EVE of generosity but how about those involving complete strangers?

Every now and then I stumble upon people that seem kinda clueless, asking for a little advice in local, or just making it clear through their actions.
If they dont act like complete asses upon convo, I usualy help them a bit with some free advice and isk. It all depends on their attitude tho

When in right mood I like to drop a can with bookmarked mission wrecks near gates or main station... sometimes I even get 'thanks' in local

After any big plex windfall, I take an alt, go into a noob system and find a new soul struggling with the complexities of eve. After talking for about 15 min i usually get a good read if they will stick with the game or not.
If they plan on playing for a while, i buy them a fully fitted ship they will soon be able to fly and give them some advice on how not to die with it.

i only got my pilots licence back a couple days ago but once i logged in i noticed that during my absence that somebody had donated 100m to me for no reason 
that made me very happy lol and i thank that person

During my trial period a chap called Blood Miner gave me 1m isk following a half hour chat about the game and wished me luck.

I destroy a lot of people's ships in Eve. Quite a few of them are new players. If they convo me and whine and swear and insult me then I just ignore them and move on. If they ask for help and make an effort to analyze their situation and learn from it, I usually give them enough ISK to replace their ship and sometimes quite a bit more.
In my opinion, handing people ISK isn't always helping them, but in some instances it's the most productive thing to do to ensure that they don't lose interest in the game. I like keeping new players interested and motivated to play.

While rarely getting ISK from anyone, I have been known to pass it around...
When I joined my current corp, I gave several people a ship and more. I gave 3 different people a Hulk, a couple Mackinaw, 3 got Drakes, a Bustard, a Dramiel, and 2 Mobile LABs for our POS.
And no there is none for you...

i was 2 weeks old and i lost my thrasher which i had kitted out and pimped it awesomly ... then i lost it half way through the epic arc. somebody then donated me 1.5 mill to buy a new one, which was about double what i had in my wallet.
i payed him back 15 mill a few months later

When I first started a really cool guy picked me up in the help channel during a mission, helping me out with some stuff I didn't understand.
He made 25 jumps to get to me, which to me was like half way accross the galaxy back then.
He helped me with some of the missions I was doing and at the end of the night, took me along to his home system gave me (I think) 5 million ISK and a stack of modules that he didn't have use for, and advised me to sell them, since I couldn't use them for a long time.
Funny thing: I am now the CEO of the corp he is in :P

Theres some decency in Eve? .............I'm speechless.
I did get a 10mil donation when I started out, from a generous player, tho when I contacted him a few months later to see how he was doing, he shied away from any contact, I'm sure he thought that since I've been in Eve a few months I can;t be trusted anymore LOL

Same thing happened to me. I guess thats Eve. The sad thing about the game is nobody trusts anyone else through necessity not choice. Ho hum.

A week or two into the free trial, I was flying round somewhat randomly trying stuff out like "what if I shoot a sentry gun" and other things you can read about but it's useful to experience for yourself such as white containers being sometimes lootable and sometimes flag you, pushing a few boundaries on when people can shoot you and when they could do but don't bother... and I got myself popped by a player. I forget exactly what the agression timer was for, but can-theft / wreck-theft of some dirt cheap module springs to mind. Totally legal and above board, I'd gotten caught with my hand in the cookie jar and paid the price.
As I was beetling back to station after my first PvP encounter, to my surpise I then got a convo request from the chap apologising profusely for popping a newbie, and said he felt guilty for using a T2 faction ship on a Ibis. I pointed out I was well aware of the theft penalties, agression timers etc and wasn't at all upset but just trying things out for myself - but he insisted I accompay him to a station where he traded me an "old ship just gathering dust" and a few hundred thousand ISK. And some pointers on various larcenous activites which I have since put to good use.
The ship was a fully fitted salvaging/ ratting frigate, and the money totalled less than half a million. Chump change to most players... but pennies from heaven to a genuine rookie solo player with no contacts, alts or corp. The advice was very useful, and the friendly and mature conversation convinced me this was a game I wanted to play with a reasonable community. A day later... I subscribed :-)

About a week after I started, someone put out a distress call in local in the system where I was mining. He was running 4's in a Tengu and a couple of out-of-range scram/web frigates had him pinned down. I assumed I wouldn't be much help since I hadn't actually been in combat outside of the tutorial yet, so I didn't respond at first, but nobody seemed to be responding. So I convoed him, grabbed my merlin, fleeted up with him and warped out to where he was. After he blew up the frigates, he warped out and after exchanging some pleasantries we parted ways. No reward had been offered and I didn't ask for one (honestly I was excited just not to be staring at space rocks for once), but a few minutes later I noticed that I was 10 million isk richer, which was a fortune to me then.
I remember I felt on top of the world, because I just helped out a player years older than me, got what I thought was my first taste of combat against overwhelming odds and somehow got out alive, and earned 10 million isk to boot.
Of course I've had a tried and true Eve education since then, so now I realize little things like I didn't have any aggro so I wasn't actually in any danger, and that realistically speaking my civilian gatling gun didn't do jack... so basically all I really did was web the frigates so he could blow them and run.
Though most important thing I've learned since then is that I could have held out for way more than a paltry 10 million for saving a Tengu...

Handing people anything rarely helps them. Rewarding them often does though.

In the last corp I was in before OMN, there was a "noob" member having trouble buying modules for a Drake I'd built him. Me being a packrat, contracted him enough mods for a decent mission Drake.

I don't recall any stranger ever hooking me up with ISK just because...just the jack-poles that trashed my newbie arse laughing at my noobishness with just a "welcome to eVe", but in spite of them I decided to stick with eVe so maybe I'll be able to return the favor someday with a "Remember me...welcome to eVe" or maybe not. Yeah...I guess I'm a little bitter about my introduction to eVe, but wtf I'm still here and I've done my share of helping newbies out the best I can, even still being a newb myself.

Sometimes I steal flipped ore and contract it back to the original miner with a note on how not to get canflipped, but it depends on the age.
Sometimes I will reimburse someone's ship if I kill them in lowsec and they seem to be pretty new to it all.

Oh, and occasionally I'll give iskies to other players, usually fellow corpies but every once in a while... (and anyone reading this, no, don't convo me or eve-mail me for donations.)

About 2 weeks after I joined for some reason I figured it would be a good idea to venture out to lowsec...in a (poorly-fitted) destroyer...to mine. Needless to say I was killed rather quickly. I got my pod out and docked and ended up talking to the pirate (think I just mentioned something in local about us both having Japanese names or something), they gave me some advice, pointed out my sh*tfit, and gave me 2 million ISK, which was the largest sum I'd ever seen at that point.
Some pirates are nice to legitimate newbies who don't whine and yell about being griefed. I had been told by a couple of veteran friends that got me into Eve to stay out of lowsec and that it was dangerous, but I went anyway, so I kind of knew what to expect.
It was a nice gesture and I appreciated it. Eve might be portrayed and know as this cold, harsh, anything-goes place, but within it are some truly altruistic people.
