Shangpo	Posted - 2010.07.20 21:23:00 - [1] So I was in lowsec getting into the pirate thing when I realized that I have to keep my sec status up (insert super secret reason here). So, at around -1.89 I went back to my old mission stomping grounds to run some missions (IE: Boring grind). Much to my suprise, I got Worlds Collide. Not a bad mission that, so I finish it and then I check my standing.... Hrmm no change... ok, well lets check the next mission.. Ohhh Damsel.. another good mission (ok its mercs I know.... no standing increase)..... In the end, no mission I did for 2 hours raised my sec (darn couriors!). I guess I would like CCP to explain why this is the case. Why is Worlds collide and merc missions not increase sec? I think pwts are put at a disadvantage when you can lose your sec from 5.0 to -8.9 in around 10 min in losec it takes friggen forever to "rep it back up".....

You get a sec status hit for the highest ISK rat you kill per system per 15 minutes. When running L4 missions that is maybe 1-2 hits depending on how long it takes you to complete the mission. 2. You are in Highsec, the sec status formula means you get smaller bonuses from the rats you kill 3. Completing the missions boosts your faction status, not your sec status. 4. 0 isk ships provide no sec status what so ever, IE Drones and Sleepers. Chaining 4 battleship rats in a lowsec area will get you more sec status then grinding L4 missions. Doing the same in nullsec will be even faster. It could just be that the purpose of your life is to server as a warning to others.

Yeah, I didnt pod kill (I did enjoy the tears) so in a way I was like the "cabin boy" of piracy. I didnt want to get below 2 so I figured it would be easy to rep sec status in highsec and I was wrong. Its better to kill rats every 15 min in lowsec. Anyway, thanks.

If you are going to rat in lowsec, kill a Cruiser/BS in one system, and then switch systems to find a new one. If you keep alternating systems you will get many security status increases in the time that you would get one just killing them all in the same system. ______
