Hey guys I should be moving into 0.0 Gurista territory soon and I want to take down a cheapish Ishtar for the tasks of Anoms and Belt ratting maybe some light plexing. So I thought I would post what I'm looking at and you guys can tear it to shreds tell me I suck and make it better. Thanks for all the help and let the tearing and rebuilding commence.
[Ishtar, Gurista Sanc] Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Capacitor Power Relay II Medium Armor Repairer II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II 10MN Afterburner II Omnidirectional Tracking Link I Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
Civilian Light Electron Blaster, Civilian Blaster Charge Medium 'Solace' I Remote Bulwark Reconstruction [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I
Garde II x5 Hobgoblin II x5 Vespa EC-600 x5
It currently looks to be putting out 541 dps with Garde II's with a cap stable tank that holds 495 dps at bay. It also has the AB on it to orbit around sentry drones giving it a nice sig/speed tank also.

Switch out one of the thermal hardeners for a kinetic instead, guristas deal mostly kinetic damage with a little bit of thermal on the side.

I use almost the same setup, haven't gotten into any trouble yet. I don't get aggro using a gun, I just let my sentries tank if they get aggro.
I use 1x med armor rep + 4x hardeners and for the med slots: 1x 10MN AB, 1x Large cap battery, 1x Cap recharger and 2x Omnidirectional tracking links.
Also cap stable with the local rep running.

I'm working my way up to HACs and have a similar fit in EFT. Though I'd stick some small auto-cannons on there to deal with frigs so you don't have to pick sentries up.
This is what I have (for serpentis)
[Ishtar, sentry] Capacitor Power Relay II Medium Armor Repairer II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Omnidirectional Tracking Link I Omnidirectional Tracking Link I 10MN Afterburner II
125mm Light Prototype I Automatic Cannon, Phased Plasma S 125mm Light Prototype I Automatic Cannon, Phased Plasma S 125mm Light Prototype I Automatic Cannon, Phased Plasma S [empty high slot] Prototype Cloaking Device I
Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I
Garde II x5 Warden II x5 Hobgoblin II x5 Vespa EC-600 x5
Vespas are for ducking out of 1v1 pvp situations you don't like... I've used these in my gila to escape a two BS gate camp successfully.
Another alternative though is to go with heavies and medium blasters for more DPS and mobility.
[Ishtar, heavy & blasters] Capacitor Power Relay II Medium Armor Repairer II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Drone Navigation Computer I 10MN MicroWarpdrive II
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Ogre II x5 Hobgoblin II x5 Vespa EC-600 x5
I'm looking forward to hearing why Imiarr Timshae thinks the OP setup is so bad. Please educate us.

Thanks for those of you that have been helpful, Those that disagree please please state why and how you would change it so it can actually help me out thanks. I looked at the Dominix and I'm just not as interested on a sentry Dominix with rigs and mods and just hassle to get down there. plus having it be as slow as a cow just dosent interest me as much. I also don't think a shield ishtar is the best option here due to the needing Omnidirectional tracking links and the cpu killing power of the Sentry Damage Augmenters.

I ran sanctums in an Ishtar when I lived in Angels space, and I can tell you that you only need just under 250dps rat-specific tank and it works fine. Also, I can offer you a nice little tidbit to make it a bit easier.
Warp in at 100km and drop a piece of ammo or piece of junk loot in a can and approach it Use civilian guns of some sort in your highs for ammo-free aggro. Once you have aggro, launch sentries and orbit can at 8km, ab running. Target the small ships first. Frigates/Cruisers will never make it to you before dying. When you on on last BS in spawn, approach can. When it dies, scoop drones and repeat.
I don't recall ever having to deploy anything other than sentries, as they take care of the small stuff quickly enough that they're never an issue. The jet can makes scooping the sentries between waves quick and easy.

From the OP's loadout I'm guessing HAC lvl 4 and sheeite armor comp skills. so..
TRAIN armor comp skills for kin/therm to 4 at least
DROP the hardeners (maybe keep a Kin hardener)
ADD resists or faction energized plates (cheap)
DROP all the cap mods
ADD a small repper (A-type won't break the bank)
ADD another ODL and a SeBo
ADD tractor/salv
USE Garde II's and Hob II's in belts, orbiting the sentries with AB on. For Sanctum-level anoms, warp to distance and use Wardens then Gardes.
DO NOT do 0.0 plexes unless you have another Ishtar - this time shield tanked.

All armor comps are 4 and 5. I agree with not soloing any decent plex's in this. I know its asking a lot but could you throw up a fit you would use in eft post it I'm working on one with the changes you said but I would like to see yours.

Edited by: Sykeout on 20/07/2010 22:46:15 Edited by: Sykeout on 20/07/2010 22:45:39 Ok I have come up with two fits based on your suggestions I don't know how much I like them based on more cost and seem less sturdy for little to know gain (I could be wrong on the gain)
[Ishtar, Gurista attempt 2] Coreli A-Type Small Armor Repairer Thermic Plating II Thermic Plating II Magnetic Plating II Magnetic Plating II
10MN Afterburner II Omnidirectional Tracking Link I Omnidirectional Tracking Link I Sensor Booster II, Targeting Range Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I Salvager I Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I
Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I
Pros: Cap stable, Salvage and Tractors, higher lock range Con: More expensive, less tank
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Ishtar, Gurista attempt 3] Coreli A-Type Small Armor Repairer Energized Thermic Membrane II Energized Thermic Membrane II Energized Magnetic Membrane II Energized Magnetic Membrane II
10MN Afterburner II Omnidirectional Tracking Link I Omnidirectional Tracking Link I Sensor Booster II, Targeting Range Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I
Pros: Decent tank, Higher lock range, good tracking/optimal for sentries Cons: No salvagers, more expensive, Not as much tank as a medium armor rep.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Ishtar, Gurista Sanc] Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Capacitor Power Relay II Medium Armor Repairer II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II 10MN Afterburner II Omnidirectional Tracking Link I Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
Civilian Light Electron Blaster, Civilian Blaster Charge Medium 'Solace' I Remote Bulwark Reconstruction [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I
Pros: Cheap, High tank Cons: Less lock range, Slightly lower tracking, no tractor/salvager.
These seem to be the 3 main fits I have come up with so far with this new info is there any new opinions?

The [Ishtar, Gurista Sanc] fit looks good for Gurista 0.0. I thought that the dmg Guristas did was somewhere around 70% kin and 30% which is why i always used 2 kinetics and 1 thermic but if its 53%/47% like you say I wouldn't change anything.

best option really is passive shield tanked ishtar. can do anomalies and all but 2 certain plexes with ease. fit purger rigs and 5x shield power relays in low and 3 LSE 1 heat and 1 kinetic resistance amps and u dont need to give a **** about neutraliser batteries some plexes have. in hi u can fit salvager, cloak, probe launcher and small gun for aggroing whole room. thats about it. easy money.

nothing wrong with dual repper armor ishtar for plexes... works great for many plexes... maybe not the 10/10's, but can easily reach the 1500 dps tank range... and most neut towers have a 55 or so km range with is easy for the ishtar to stay out of.

I'd go with a passive shield tank ishtar. It's probably second only to a tengu for ratting guristas. You can do most plexes in an ishtar with zero issues. Only certain 10/10's like the Maze need help.

As somebody who has run Guristas 0.0 sanctums in both an armor tanked ishtar and a shield tanked ishtar, I can confirm that the armor tanked version performs much better overall.
A passive shield tanked ishtar does have a much better tank than the armor tanked version, but it just doesn't have the same DPS or range. The inability to fit omnis and sentry damage rigs on a shield ishtar is the main reason for this.
Currently, I am running something almost exactly like what the OP has, except with a probe launcher in the highs to quickly scan out all of the anoms. With Garde II's, they can shoot out to 42km optimal (with 10km falloff), whereas with a shield ishtar your gardes will only get around 30km optimal, which means you need to pull out the wardens more often, thus gimping your DPS even more.
I have had no problems at all running sanctums with it, I don't even need to orbit the sentries as my armor level is almost constantly at 100% due to the cap stability of the setup. However, I have not done any DED plexes in it, and I highly recommend not trying to run the Maze solo with your armor ishtar ____

Just be careful with doing the plex with the emp smart bomb in a shield tank ishtar (can't remember which but you shoot the structure in last room iirc and it smart bombs)...seen lots of nubbins lose their ishtar to that plex.
