Edited by: jerichot on 17/07/2010 11:16:31 hey guys, I found an empty C4 WH and was thinking to give it a try for hacking/salvaging/archeo stuff. However I ve got no idea what to expect in terms of npc in there. Only did this kind of stuff in low sec so i know that a certain point, some npc spawn on the sites.
Can it be done in an Assaulf frig or shall a bring a HAC in terms of tanking , or BS ?
Im only interested in prof sites, not combat sites atm.

Thanks for your reply , do you think 2 BCs fully T2 fitted with RR could handle profession sites ?

Some of the spawns maybe but multiple battleship spawns will probably give you a lot of trouble. 3 or 4 would be better.

When i checked the sites, I saw some npcs, but they seems to be frig sized , judging by the size of their icons, saw on some sites, stuff a bit bigger like cruiser/bcs sized but never BS npcs.
Can I expect single spawn or multiple spawns once I killed the small stuff ?

Here is the Eve Survival guide to w-space.
http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=WormholeSpace
While in a C1-3 you can poke into a site and GTFO if you are in over your head, often in C4 or higher you will find yourself scrammed into oblivion with little choice but to kill or die. Best to study up before venturing in.

Edited by: Party Scout on 17/07/2010 18:58:48 Fit a large tank + tools, do not kill the sleepers. Just tank the initial sleepers (usually just a couple), and go analize/codebreak/salvage whatever is there.
The spawns on those sites are really nasty, and they can web/scram you. We lost a massively tanked drake on one of those to the last spawn. 3 bships, 4 cruisers, and 2 frigs. The frigs scrammed the drake and it was vaporized before we could take down the frigs. And that was a class 3 :(
So, just tank the initial spawns, kill a couple if you want, leaving one of each kind so you do not trigger the next wave, and analyze/codebreak/salvage while tanking the damage. Much safer.
Edit: Oh, we did a class 5 like this as well. In higher class WHs, they all scram. So you need 2 people at least, fly in different directions, and when you are about 100km from each other, wait for the sleepers to change targets. When they change, and drop the scram, warp out before they get to scram the other player. Works pretty well.

The only things worth a lot of isk in c4 w space professional sites are the hull relics (found only in the cans marked as talocan ships) and the sleepers themselves. The decryptors, datacores, RAMs and wrecked relics are all essentially worthless. So tanking the first spawn and doing the cans will work but you're leaving almsot all the isk on the field.

uh...if you have good reverse engineer skills and a POS setup...building some subsystems is still pretty profitable
also cans in a C4 drop plenty of malfunctioning relics, which have a higher base success chance and more runs on successful jobs (can't remember if its 5 or 10 run)

Prof sites in C3 and above you will be scram, webbed, and Nos'd. Multiple spawns usually frigs and cruisers or frigs and BC's in first spawn. However, us can and should expect multiple spawns with no less then 3 to 4 sleeper bs's. Depending on if the wh has effect would determine the types of ships you would use. But I thought the recommended minimum for C4 was 4-5 man gang, with one doing RR. I could be wrong about that...

a single BC isn't likely to survive in a C4 profession site for very long at all. I've been trying to get perfect balance of tank to gank for a while on my legion and although it handles combat sites find at 557 omni tank and 140 sig radius, it broke on a C3 mag. pumped another 100 tank in and it was fine. If you're flying a drake though your raw numbers on tank will have to be a lot higher due to sig radius and speed. If you fit all tank, a cap booster, and a remote rep/shield transfer you and another BC may be able to survive long enough to get cans open, but would be rough.
Do research on the site itself, find the triggers (opening a talocan BS wreck spawns extra BS' for example) and you may be okay, but for the amount of time and effort required to do this, you might as well take those same 2 BC's into a C3 and run combat sites for hefty profits.
In a C3 combat site alone the battleships usually pile missiles into a BS doing 1.5-2k damage, same from lasers. Now make that 3 BS for the last spawn in a C3 mag and you get some idea of what to expect. Not to mention everything webbing you so transversal can't be counted on.
