The fact that EVE runs AT ALL, or supports fleet fights that size AT ALL, EVER, is nothing short of astonishing. Those who think otherwise are only showing their own ignorance of the subject.
Care to enlighten the ignorant with your in-depth knowledge of Eve's server architecture?
I'm just asking because, you see, there are places/companies who manage millions of transactions every second, and no one seems 'astonished'. So 40K players...It seems 'astonishing' that CCP cannot handle the load and, since its inception, is fighting the 'load lag'.
But surely, you will provide us with details about those issues.

Here is a list of some of the biggest problems in eve. If you (CCP) fixed even the top half of these problems sometime in the next 6 months a lot of current players would be much less angry about the amount of work being put forth on incarna.
I do understand the motivation behind incarna,WOD,and Dust as all will bring in more money into CCP. More money will result in more devs to work on eve and its problems later. Thats good an all but EVE needs a work now. There are core issues with the game that need attention now if you want to keep you player base.
In the blasters thread alone there are many ideas there that could fix the problem that blasters have and the problems with hybrid turrets in general. Its been know for some time that Hybrid turrets need a buff of some type but nothing has ever been done about. Half the races in the game use hybrid turrets to some extent. Take a little time CCP and make the primary weapon of those two races worthwhile play with. This would at least apease the mob of people angry about that subject at least.
Rockets need more dps and bigger clips... another easy problem to fix. Change the damage modifer of rockets and adjust there clip size.... how long would that take? We want to know.
I for one will stop playing eve if non of the minor things don't get fixed with this next expantion.

Nice, walking in stations, finnaly.
I don't understand why people troll and cry so much about Incarna. Anyway, being able to really feel the sci-fi genre of EVE Online alive is going to be great.
Being a ship all the time is like playing GTA without being able to leave the car and explore the city.
"Arghhhhh I wannzz pew pew pew lez kill incarna!!!"

In short, the reason is:
Enough development resources to create a whole new game have been poured in to this expansion, and all we have to show for it after four years work is a fancy character creater that isn't even ready yet.
Meanwhile there is a vast backlog of bugs, issues and feature requests.
It's not so much that people dont want Incarna, it's just that the huge resources spent on it aren't justified by the apparent results.
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |
