i hear people say it's possible but i also hear others say it's not, both appear to be experienced with the area but both groups seem to have their own views and i can't pick which one is right.
i would like to know if it is possible to get a 100% refine, and if so, tell me how so i can put the pieces together and understand so i can trust people when they say, i can refine to 100%
i know that using: refining - lvl 5 refining efficiency - lvl 5 specific ore type - lvl 5 implants and station equipment at 50% can produce a supposed 100% fine but i would like to see some figures as i am not knowledgeable on how it all works and what the figures are.
thanks in advance

Yes, 100% is possible.
All the info you need is in Halada's guide.

ok i have read Halada's guide and tbh, i don't trust his figures, i have seen a few, wtf how can u screw up those numbers there, that is so simple to calculate in my head... I'm looking for some real math posted here, i want the formula not some pre done numbers by some guy who shows how bad his math is when he post the numbers and comes up with a different answer that what u can plainly see from looking at the numbers he is using, i can understand he's spelling and grammar issues, he's probably European, but i just plain and simply don't trust his math unless someone gives me the formula to which i can number crunch and get similar or exactly same results as Halada.

yes at a 50% station RE:5 SO:1 RE:4 SO:2 RE:3 SO:3
equation :- 0.375 * (1+ 0.02* refining Skill) * (1+ 0.04* Refining Efficiency Skill) * (1+ 0.05* Specific Skill)
at a 50% station you get 50 + the above at a 40% station 40 + the above at a 33% station 33 + the above it tops out at 100

You forgot the station owner standing which makes the last 5%.
With perfect skills you can max. reach 95%.
Perfect skills + standing = 100%

Edited by: Makko Gray on 16/07/2010 10:23:53 Just as an FYI the station will never show the net yield as 100% - this is because the net yield displayed doesn't take into account ore specific refine levels.
The skills required for a perfect refine are much lower than you specified, I think it's only level 3 refining efficiency and level 3 ore specific skill in a base 50% yield station.
For standing you'll need a minimum of 6.67 to take the station owners take to 0.

He's from Texas, and TBH even if the maths is slightly off, the end results are correct.
You dont need to know the formulae, Just assume that in a station with 50% refine, Refinery Effiency 5, Specific Ore Processing 1 you will get a 100% refine -5% tax for the standings. To reduce the tax to 0% and get a true 100% refine you need standings with the NPC station owning coporation of 6.7
Note that alliances holding stations in 0.0 space set their own taxes and this is not affected by standings. Taxes out there can be as high as 20%.

Edited by: My Postman on 16/07/2010 10:52:31 I do refine ore constantly at a 50% station, and all i can mention to it that the Numbers of Makko Gray are right.
Not to say that the others are wrong, but skilling Refinery Efficiency 5 is a pain in the ass, when you can do it with RE 3 and (ore)processing 3.
My two cents.
Edit for misspelling Makko

Exactly. "Normal" stations have a base yield of 50% + skills but a 6.7 standings with the station owner's corp reduces the refining tax to 0. You don't even have to have Refining Efficiency V for that; if you have IV and lvl 1 in the [insert ore] processing skill you already get 100%.

You can also get a refining implant that will help as well. It makes it really useful if you don't want to train RE5 for scrapmetal processing.

BTW - you need a standing of 6.6666 or more with the corp owning the station to have your taxe at 0%

To be quite blunt, I would trust Halada's guide way more than your quickmaths in your head. The guy has spent some serious time and effort to put together THE most extensive and detailing guide to EVE mining that has ever been done.
For some random guy, who apparently cannot calculate refining, to come and trash one of the core building blocks of the EVE industry after a glimbse (where Halada has actually been able to realize ALL the math), really kinda begs me to post this message and say, it's quite most certainly your head that's wrong.

i know u were being blunt but it was not called for, i know that halda put work and effort into it, just that in the BC area of the guide there were, well u could bluntly tell there was something wrong.
Also on a side note, the last time i read halada's guide before reading it again today, it was a long time ago, and has had an update since then. so please don't be so blunt next time.
