Edited by: Darth Vapour on 13/07/2010 17:18:22 Would any programmers be available to fix it until Incarna and Dust have been fully implemented ?
If that not is the case, would it not make sense to postpone mass testing for two years and save your customers the wasted time spent testing ? And if the statement is correct, can you say how many resources would be diverted from developing new products to fixing the lag whose cause was just discovered, hypothetically speaking ?

Edited by: CCP Lemur on 14/07/2010 09:21:50 There will be programmers around during the test to monitor potential fixes to some of the issues. I can assure you that there are several very smart developers working on fighting the lag. The guys around are however programmers not game designers, so they can't fix your rockets.

So that is why it takes more than 2 years for any balance issues to be fixed?
Does this also mean you will need them to fix the catalyst model, fix the bugs with ihub RF timers (been there since dominion introduced ihubs...) or document what happens when station falls to enemy hands before ihub is destroyed?

My post on Morsus Mihi "After battle reports" regarding Monday night brawl in EFM-C4 (12-07-2010)
Quote: As I already said on TS, I notified CCP guys (crew who actually care) and they were flying their invisible ships whole evening monitoring all systems with high load. One of them was with us in EFM during whole fight, and gathered a lot of useful info. After I gather all logs from the guys who were running Logserver, and fraps as well, they will have more then enough info to (hopefully) solve at least one of the issues regarding fleet fight. Anyway I hope we will soon(tm) enjoy the fruits of the overtime work of CCP "guyswhoactuallycare"
Without entering discussion should CCP employees play in big 0.0 alliances or not, if you want to help CCP with solving issue of lag, run Logserver Log server info during fleet fights, and send them to CCP via Bug report How to Bug report with detailed description of your experience. And ofcourse participate in Sisi mass tests.
Running Log server requires and writing bug report requires in total 30 minutes of your time, and participating on sisi tests 1-2 hours of your life every week or so, and you are helping to make your game better.

Last time I tried to submit a log the bugreporting tool said it was too big and left it at that.

Yes, the bug reporting tool requires a either a bugfix, or another means of submitting logserver files.
Firefox now times out with larger files and the whole rigmarole of trying to submit a bug report and having a timeout, usually ends up with having to rewrite the entire thing(which was always likely in the past anyway) and giving up in frustration.
It's one of those user interface things that could use some work...

Zipping them up helps, some people also up the zip to EVEFiles or a 1-click-hoster and post a link in their BR. There are currently changes in the making to increase the upload size considerably. They will not be ready for tomorrow though.

Will you at the same time fix the following gaping flaws in the system that have resulted in me rather bearing the life with the bugs than using the horrible mess that is eve-online bug reporting tool?
- The text boxes are way too limited (Not enough information, please tell us more! Can't no room!) - Passing messages back and fort is almost impossible in a meaningful way - The system uses faked e-mail address in it's notifications (RFC violation) - Your bughunter team thinks that if a bug is beyond their powers to reproduce (ie. involving a dirty node crash) it's not a valid report and will be canned. - The bug database isn't public, which leads to duplicate reports and not being able to give additional information in a meaningful way
And yeah, your bug reporting tool doesn't even accept screenshots as produced by your client and often requested by the BH team...

This was told during the mass tests in May(?) again and again. It's still not done?!

It will probably be done after incarna, dust, cold fusion and world peace as everything else.

Thanks for the response, CCP Lemur.
One more question I put in GD which may be overlooked there so I'll repeat it here:
Certain aspects of EVE combat that are prominent on Tranquility are not done or even banned on SiSi. Specifically dictor bubbles, bombs, titan bridging and podkilling. All these happen in abundance in real fights, would it not make sense to allow them in mass tests ? If one of these things is a major cause for lag we'll never discover it during mass tests.
