OK, My general understanding of T2 BPOs is that they exist, but they can no longer be obtained.
my question is this... in light of game balancing and making everyone on the same play level... why are T2 BPOs not still being made available considering the still influx of new players? while i understand most if not all T2 BPOs are located in null-sec warchests, it is my curiosity as to why the continuation of spawning/researching (idk Im not old enough) T2 BPOs was halted.
Before you even start on invention... Invention sucks, The 60% waste factor **** is bogus... like really who throws away half of the materials they use to build something.. anything? realistically i think it would be less upsetting if the T2 BPCs that we research didn't suck so bad compared to a BPO even at 0/0 not to mention researched.
the extra materials are quite cost intensive when you consider exactly how much more we have to pay for copies that are so far below "even" which is still -10% |

no, you don't understand this. Where are you getting your information about the distribution of T2 BPOs?

Invention was created to replace T2 BPOs, because the old lottery system was stupid. The vast majority of T2 items have their prices set by Invention. T2 BPOs are only significant competition in very low-volume modules, and with each passing year the number of active T2 BPOs is going to get smaller and smaller.
If you can't make money on Invention, you suck at it. There are significant costs incurred to invent things because t2 modules aren't meant to be cheap. |

t2 bpos offer a somewhat small advantage. if you are jealous you can always go buy one, there are usually always at least a few for sale. |

This, and expect them to be sold at a price that would require several years of constatnt production to ake up the isk through the extra efficiency (tens of billions for a single bpo) |

The waste factor isn't an issue on the majority of (module) T2 blueprints.
Take the Adaptive Invulnerability Field II. The difference between an invented one, and a perfect one, is about 50k isk. This is because a great deal of the materials involved aren't affected by waste.
Now, if you want to complain, the data core cost is what you can complain about. But that's pretty much it.
Sure, there are markets where you can't compete with the BPOs. But they're small markets. There are /plenty/ of places to make money with T2 invention. Regardless of profit of buying vs. invention. In the Bill of materials tab of my T2 BPCs have an ME and PE tab and a list of stuff needed to be able to improve the BP. There is also a tab for copying. Is this even possible? Will it use up the remaining runs. Everything I've read on invention says that this can't be done on a Copy but there it is on the Blueprint in show info. |

They just look the same because they are virtually identical to BPO in the database: BPCs have limited licensed runs, and BPOs don't. That's they only difference. So CCP didn't bother to write additional code to make them look more different. For years in fact they even had the same icons; the lighter colour of BPC is a recent change. |

My first thought as soon as I read the OP. All the time spent flogging this dead horse he could have used to earn the isk to buy a tech 2 BPO. Unified Church of the Unobligated - madness in the method Mamma didn't raise no victims. |

I don't think invention sucks. It's a good system which adds another layer of complexity to manufacturing compared to T1 manufacturing, which is a logical step. Spawning T2 BPOs again in any way is not a solution, imo, because BPOs are boring and too simple. I think we just have to agree that, had CCP made the game with the knowledge they had today, they would never have had T2 BPOs at all. Now, we'll just have to wait and see. There are changes incoming to T2 production, we just don't know what they are yet. They have hinted at moving T2 production to lowsec for example, that would be interesting, now just force players to have their BPOs in the POS instead of in a corp hangar somewhere when building off them and they'll slowly be destroyed ;)! Not that that'll happen. |
