So recently I created a new account simply to have a live account (which my CEO for this corp is on and is training skills)
Anyway everything was fine until it asked me to have an uppercase letter in the password, now me being amazing I figured the changing password protocol didnt have this new security thing and I was right and so after I created the account I went immediately into change password and changed it to something I am more comfortable with and ofc without a capital letter.
I would just like to know why CCP would do this as I was under the impression that MOST 'hacks' were due to security breaches such as key logs, what are the odds of someone managing to guess someones user name AND password that the password security now requires a capital letter to be used since a key log would just tell them anyway?
tldr - why the change? :/ --

Probably...a "Cover My Ass" move on CCP's part. Dunno if you've recently created a hotmail/gmail or other MMO account, but there's been a definite shift to them demanding that you create a 'strong' password with a mix of Upper and Lower case and at least 1 special character, before they accept a new account.
On the basis that makes it much harder to brute-force a password, thus allowing a company a further layer of "It's Your Fault" disclaimer.
Possibly it also makes it harder for bots to create accounts (or can be claimed to make this harder)? |

Ya know, I was making a new alt a few days ago (<3 $2 eve on Steam) and I was thinking the same thing, since the passwords on my other accounts have no uppercase letter. Then I saw you could change it with no restrictions.
I was hoping it was an accident by CCP and that no one would mention it... but no...
Still love you though, we should NAP.
