For you. For some of us it is actually the best thing to do, as it does not include harrassing people who had a tough day at work like mindless idiots while laughing our asses off like 3-year-olds. Your logic is flawed. |

Well this is EVE, adapt or die trying.
Also, any Hulk pilots that want to keep mining during HIII, I will offer logistic services so those nasty gankers don't get your barge. Contact me via ingame mail, stating your name, what you will be flying, when you will be flying and in which system. And don't worry when you see me, I always use a Brutix for logistics.

man, i've had a really tough day at work =[
we scrambled in the dark, there were a lot of noises, then the drama pit filled up and overflowed again. they cut costs again and reduced budgets lately, so they only got these terrible cheap connectors for the drama-spill-cleanup trucks with obviously a complete absence of backup because we all know we can't predict and budget for backup. so what had to happen happened, the connections burst, no backup connectors, drama spills all over the place even further than before. had to wait hours for a backup truck to drive all the way over in the middle of midday traffic while filling out pages of paperwork on dead trees using an ink-based writing apparatus.
then of course i had to get back manually to my small abode of comfort within the peripherie of a semi-large urban agglomeration, with everyone riding their own little god-given-right miracle of individual transport systems known as automobiles, everyone along the same lines in a chaotic dance of self-affirmation and drone-based denial, screaming and bursting in rage while some microwave-oven-reheated-for-the-dozenth-time middle of the road overcompressed semblance of musical manifestation is played on the frequency-modulation radio-frequency receiver attached to the sound system of my humble vessel of individuality which is admittedly rather acceptable after a few costly upgrades due to the high price of moving complex electronic parts manufactured goods across what is basically half the planet, a very nice and pretty planet at that if not for a couple minor issues that are not worth talking about much.
FINALLY i manage to get all the way into my driveway, sometimes fighting off large amounts of frozen water shaped into a mix of packed ice, mutilated snowflakes, and a weird semi-liquid form of hideous colour that i'd rather not describe, with a pang to the heart as the low rumble of my mechanized metallic transport miracle's engine turns off in my driveway.
i can finally start the long multi-hour process of shedding off the unbearable stress of daily work so that i can enjoy some minutes of comforting entertainment before slumber while i don my amazing funny-cartoon-cat-shaped pantoufles and choose which, among the many examples of super-sparkly colourful modrn-day soma of the future being offered to the modern civilized denizen.
what shall i do, which amazing synthetic simulation of life shall i doze myself off with while the intense noise slowly recedes into a dull shallow drone far off in the reverie of the slowly receding barriers of my mind? whereupon shall i wander to help me relax enough to trigger the delicate embrace of morphTe?
after much pondering, it appeared obvious to me at that particular moment in time that the prefered and proper course of action, should i desire to diminish as much as possible the high levels of energy accumulated during the dayshift, should i yearn for the mental equivalent of the motionless surface of a mountain lake on a windless moonless soundless night upon which a few flying fireflies might provide an infinitesimal amount of light, were i to focus all my over-energized being into such a pursuit, obviously, the proper course of action would be to log into the fantastic little gem of a game that is EvE, without delay, a game known for it's exceedingly non-competitive environment and relaxing atmosphere coupled with the complete absence of drama, and engage, oblivious to all the agonizing cries of the space ducklings inhabiting veldspar, into the wonderous activity known as mining simulated asteroids, using preferably an advanced exhumer-class mining barge vessel, fully expecting the rest of the universe to leave me alone to myself in adventurous research of silence. |

I am a part-time miner. I mine when I need the ore, just a few hours a week on average. Hulkageddon is good to me. Do you know why? It helps to thin the herd of macro miners and ISK farmers that are competing with me, and other honest miners like me. Hulkageddon breaks macro mining, drives down the productivity of ISK farming and otherwise disrupts the activity of those who mine to acquire resources for Real Money Trading. And it does not hurt me because I keep my mining ships safely docked for the duration.
So embrace Hulkageddon, ye miners. It helps to thin the competition.

Edited by: Jei Lin on 28/06/2010 16:32:37 just a wild guess but i bet at the very least 2/3 of the eve accts are alts.
i have 4 accts myself.
i don't have a problem with ganks, pvp, pirates, or what have you, i have 2 toons living in 0.0 and refuse to take them highsec.
there is a line however that becomes the breaking point and that is ccp sanctioned ganking of undefensable players. why not go for t2 gankathong or bs gankathon? oh wait, they can shoot back where mining barges do not.
i say kill the insurance of the guilty during this hulkathing.
but i venture a guess and say that if enough people quit eve due to this stupidity then the wallet of ccp begins to feel a lot lighter, in this case the game will go like many others and become a once was or hasbeen.
i suppose many of you don't care about that either.
i know many who are already talking of quiting. so i say stop allowing new players and make eve available to only a certain few. and those that quit their alts and mains, thanks for playing.

You do realize that it doesn't matter if it can shoot back when you're -10 and suicide ganking it... right?
In fact, it's actually preferable if it does shoot back, as it's less of a sec status loss that way.

To my fellow miners*: Quit whining. Once a year, the low sec rabble must crawl out of their holes and suicide gank you to make themselves feel relevant. They yearn for the bygone era where anyone besides scum and villains like themselves traveled their desolate spaces. Other than sitting on gates talking about boobs, shooting each other around forlorn stations, or coming here to shake their fist at the hi-sec crowd living civilized and idyllic lives of fulfillment making love to the rock and earning a real profit, what do they have?
Hulkageddon.
So, take this an opportunity to take a vacation from the dull, soul crushing vibrations of your deep core strip mining lasers and thankless orca dumping runs. You have nine days to find something else to do. If your profligate, phlegm spewing hatred is genuine, why not take a break from the game? If enough of you do (you won't), CCP will surely notice (they won't) and perhaps when Helicity publishes Hulkageddon 4, they will step in (they won't). Instead, you could even use some of your isk on a ship you really cannot fly in an attempt to hunt one of these rabble and in some small way make their day by providing them with a killmail.
Either way, the lower class is having it's yearly uprising and once again expressing themselves to their betters in the only way they know how: extortion. Stop mining or they will destroy you.
See you in the belts on the 19th and good hunting until then, villains of lowsec. o/

I saw this in another post and yoinked it because it fits here in Koldosa's trollpost:
Quote: Some very nice people will be protecting defenceless Asteroids from being griefed.
Asteroids 'never hurt anybody' and have a right to be 'left alone'. Why should others 'force their playstyle' on the 'roids of New Eden by sucking the life from them?
A 3 day old Asteroid cannot defend itself against a 6 month old miner and I applaud those who take up the cause to stop the griefing of inanimate objects.

Ive said it before, look up the definition of griefing. this is griefing by that definition. CCP EULA states griefin g will not be tolerated, yet they say "woo go griefiers" in the hulka thread as CCP staff to players. therefore, the EULA is full of lies. There's 1, repeat 1, frigate in the T1 lineup designed to be a suicide tackler. the rest are for COMBAT. so don't tell me to tackle when I'm in a combat T1 frig. OR tell CCP to fix their mess. |

My corp already lost an orca and three barges to Cult of War, a long time before the scheduled start of Hulkageddon. So it's not really just a few days any more. My hulk has been attacked regularly since the last Hulkageddon. (I've survived five attacks in the same hulk so yes, it's tanked.)
Hulkageddon is here to stay, sure. The only part of it I think is stupid is the folks who claim it's some kind of crusade against AFK miners. If you need to justify ganking a hulk, you're not getting it, right?

Edited by: Bankoff DarkFusion on 30/06/2010 17:04:37 My point is that this event is all about attention for Helicity Boson. It's about destruction pure and simple. Doesn't bother me. But it's not some kind of crusade, as I said.
All the barges we lost were lost days before Hulkageddon started and were being flown by real pilots. Young ones, and folks who were not tanking their ships as well as they could. But they were not AFK.

Well if CCP would do something about the rampant botting that pushes mineral prices to an all time low, all this wouldn't be necessary. Since they don't or apparently don't seem to give a damn ..
The best thing to stop marcos is to not allow the game to be played in windowed mode and make it to where you have to close the client to access your desktop. I watched a macro programm at work and this is how they function. Disabling windowed mode will eliminate macro miners till they find another way.
Yes I tested a macro to see where the weaknesses are. You have to get intel on what you are fighting. Macro programs greatest weakness is the need to use windowed mode. Eliminate it from the client and every macro known to macroers will be defeated.
And after I finished my test I trashed what ever ore I mined and removed the macro from my computer.

GO TO HELL
Hulageddon is perfectly fair and legal. And not just because CCP endorses it...here is why:
Eve is a survival game using Darwin as the base model: survival of the fittest. You can be shot anywhere in space, even highsec space. Never mind the fact that Concord retaliates to punish the aggressor, the attack is still fair and allowed. You are never safe except in dock.
Hulkageddon is merely the expansion of what I just said on a much larger scale. Instead of one on one battles in highsec, you are now dealing on one on many, or many on many if the miners are well prepared. But the game mechanics have not changed, the rules are still the same.
I once believed the same thing as you, though I never was as venomous in my remarks as you were. I suggest you read the new player's guide and the backstory about New Eden. Helocity's post on his blog is also a good intelligent post of why Hulkaggedon is not what you say (and what I once believed).
Stop whining about it. Either do something else on EVE (mission runs, PvP), or mine, but be smart about where and how you mine. Do not macro mine or plug an indie into a rock and walk away to do your laundry.

Edited by: myrddhyn on 01/07/2010 08:37:42 plz keep Darwin out of this discussion. His theories are a bit more complicated then 'survival of the fittest' and your very bad interpretation of it... ps survival of the fittest is a quote from Herber Spencer and not from Darwin.

There are ways to limit the risks..
As the hulk has 50 m3 drone bay, you can put 5 medium ecm drones in.. They engage the moment the suicider attacks, and then the suicider will watch helplessly, jammed, getting his ship blown up, plus you end up on the killmail (hulk kills brutix, isn't that fun?).
There are some pretty nasty tanks available for hulks, just train more then your bloody mining skills..
To the OP : quit Eve, you're not up for it.. You fail to get the whole concept of Eve.
