Well, my mistake offcourse, but the ATO must be ATI catalyst drivers. I am sure when u type Catalyst 4.10 in Google that u will find some download sites.
I like to state again that it is somewhat strange that the "occluding of the sun" seems to be active sometimes even when u uncheck the tab on the general options page. U must put the command line in the prefs.ini (make backup first)and then restart the client.
note: the changes of the settings will be made after u jump to another system. So if u notice the sun does occlude when u undock (the sun will dissapear when u put your ship in front of it)and u change the setting in the general page, i beleive the actual change will be made after u jump trough a gate.
It worked fine for me again, had no crashes at all when i made sure the sun was not occluded.
GoodLuck again, and may i thank the person who found this fix in the first place.. :P credit to those who deserve it..

I have the same problem. 50% of the times my ship undocks, when I try to control it (double clicking screen or autopilot) eve just sends me back to windows desktop. I have tried all options of z-buffer - no effect. My card is a fx5200, drivers are the ones than winXP installs and work with every game.... but Eve.
I'm going to try the other suggestions you have in this post and report on the effects later.
