When your ship blows up, and if your lucky, you get to see yourself escaping in your nice and cozy escape pod. But what about your Crew. Even a frigate needs helping hands to get your ship running.
I was thinking of how we all have multiple learning Tabs, Electronics, Engineering, Gunnery, etc... and how CCP, if they can, should allow multiple escape pods to fly off when your ship is destroyed. You as the Captain of the ship would be in control of the Spaceship Command Tab, but for every tab you have skill points in, one additional crew mate should fly out in a pod. This would also make getting Poded a little less painful, since if one or a few pods bite it, you would only have to replace the clones of those crew mates. For every tab, you would have a clone, which you would also keep track of as you would your normal clone now. As for Jump Clones, only difference would be the Implants, which your clone (Spaceship Command Tab) would wear, rest of your crew would jump into empty shells to follow you along.
This is just me feeling bad for the crew, your thoughts?

1) According to the backstory frigates don't have crew (though other ships do). 2) Crew don't have pods. Pods are exclusive to capsuleers.

According to backstory, usually the human payload vanishes:
Quote: Four months later, Daren Athaksis was confirmed as one of six-thousand three-hundred and fourteen reported casualties resulting from the destruction of the Apocalypse-class battleship "Dam-Imud."
Which is their own fault really. They could have chosen another career, maybe they could have become a capsuleer.

No they couldn't only a few percent of the population can withstand "The Jovian wet grave" without suffering from mind block when they are released from the capsule for the first time after hooking in a one.

Edited by: Lord Ashen on 16/06/2010 10:19:17 this has always been a grey area from CCP,
At the start of EvE all ships had a crew size that served on the ship, however no backstory relating to where we get these meat workers from is given, Nore do they seem to have any family or friends :| never after losing a ship have i had some angry relative complaining about my lack of health and safetly on board.
There was talk a few years back of allowing Crews to be an extra, so you could maybe get a speclized gunnary crew and (maybe they gained a little experaince over time) and could be transfered to new ships BUT i believe this idea got shelved and Rigs were brought in to cover that customization need of ships.
Still it is worrying that a battleship must carry familys, friends co-workers and we the demi gods just treat them like well nothing, they are rarely even talked about.
In Fact, I might even go so far as to advocate a mass CREW uprising and in one single handed blow take over all the ships in eve. THen I could rent people ships ummm

Conversely, you have to wonder about the quality of your crew if you can blow them up and not a single one is missed by anyone.
This thread brings up a good point though. In order to maintain standing, each captain should be required to write a personal letter to the families of everyone who has lost their life. These should be hand delivered.

Maybe the crew consists of criminals, they are sent onboard the spaceship instead of sent to jail. Cheap mans way of a death sentence sort of, then again, they'd need some knowledge to be onboards a spaceship. As far as amarr goes, well those are probably slaves majority of the crew.

Essentially, the conversion ratio from planetside/station currencies to ISK is so extreme that 1 ISK essentially will pay for all of your crew for the next 1000 years.

You are wrong.
A carton (400kg) of milk has a value of 180 isk currently.
1kg of milk in UK costs around z1.00. 400kg (stated clearly) will be around z400.
z400.00 = 180 isks.
That means, a raven battleship costs around z155,555,555 pounds.
And with one isk, you can buy a small box of milk.

The milk in game is actually milk+, which is considerably more valuable.

Contrary to what others do. I issue my crews Hawaiian shirts and tell them to throw their red shirts into the power core. I want my crew to have a more positive attitude.

You are wrong. Pure milk is very expensive and reserved for reach folk, normal people drink synthetic milk.
And you do not have to reply to the families, because those families now have money (courtesy of the insurance all pilots have on their ships). _______________________ We come for our people! |
