Adding proximity sensors of how many ships are around a gate just seems real.
Intelligent travel for those that watch there screens. Helps open spaces and regions.
Simple, and doesn't stop campers whiners. |

Inteligent people usually can make enough money to support their hobbies.

Simple, and doesn't stop campers whiners. No. Use a scout or get friends. This is after all, an MMO.
CCP Zulu..... Forcing players to dock at the captain's quarters is a form of what we actually wanted to get through, which is making Incarna a seamless part of the EVE Online experience. |

Some of us have friends, those that don't have T3s. Those that have neither are idiots and deserve to not be able to move around Eve.
But seriously, the main issue with this idea is that it wouldn't help you anyway. You don't sit on a gate when you're gate camping, you sit at a safe spot a few hundred thousand KM out aligned to the gate. You warp when the target lands. (If you're good at timing it, you can camp from further out than that. I know a few people who insist on camping from deep safes >14AU away from the gate, so as to avoid letting scouts know you're there.)
Either way, a proximity sensor is going to do jack **** to help you.

No. It's too easy to travel through lowsec as it is, and nullsec gatecamps are EASILY beatable. |

interceptors can outrun pretty much any gatecamp. by the time someone has a lock on you, even if you're bubbled, you would have been able to burn about 8-10km away from where you were and from there you can pretty easily escape the bubble and warp off. |

-1 More idiot ideas..
Gate camps are easy to get around Stop warping to Zero, Learn set up tacticle book marks, and most of All have patients and the campers will let their guard down before you know it. |

I didn't know that space in my EvE was closed. Learn something every day
As for the idea - 'no' for reasons already explained by other posters. It's really easy to break camps you know. Most of the campers are quite lazy and they usually camp the same gate. Also - they don't use effective decloakers. There is a lot of uncamped entry points into both low and null.
