CCP, this doesn't make sense.

But then there's also bonuses to ships. tiers cause ships in the same class to be weaker and stronger than each other, especially in terms of effective HPs. The higher tiers also have more slots. So why not put a +2% to armor or shield cap bonus on lower tier ships per level? They would have to grow into getting much benefit, and this would allow a continued reason to use them, despite facing people in other ships who have a 2-3 slot advantage and a 20% effective HP advantage. Something like that, and lower tier ships would stay competitive without making higher tier meaningless or lower tier ships, like say the arbitrator, meaningless, because then there is a reasonable cost/benefit strucutre between the ships, while lower tier still is inferior in terms of fitting and slots.

Artimus Mousimus Gallente	Posted - 2010.06.08 01:51:00 - [5] why should a lower tier ship have a better shield/ armor tank than its higher tier ship, in the end of the day you pay for what you get. dunno about you but i use the lower tier ships more than i do the higher tier ships becuase of there flexibility and cheapness, phoon for example is like a swiss army knife you can set it up loads of diffrent ways plus its half the cost.

Oh right. Looking at the values of HP difference, I added 10% of the L5 bonus this would grant to its armor. It still comes up far short of the effective HP of the maller, and shorter than the omen. so Im dying to know how that makes it have more HP than a tier 3 ship? Im dying to know how you didnt die from not understanding how to breathe yet.

Often the lower tier ships are THE choice for other uses, like pvp. Arbitrator is a great example. I did a little pvp in all Amarr cruisers and I would prefer flying an Arbi over a Maller or Omen in 1 v.s. 1 by far. While the Omen is still better in large groups than a Maller. The Maller makes for a tough pve cruiser and maybe nice bait in pvp, but that is about it. Same with Amarr BS: Armageddon and Apoc are in some pvp scenario's much better than an Abaddon (even though an Abby is a flying fortress and has its use in pvp). Help us to make parrots game related today!
