Guys I've started my Industry and Mining Character and have a steady ore count going through. But theres a problem, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO MANUFACTURE. Ive tried everything from Cap Rechargers to 10mn Afterburners. Not much profit in there so i'm asking you guys what i should start manufacturing. I dont think im ready for ships yet but maybe something simpler that i can produce in great numbers for greater profit.

The only answer you will get:
Do the math yourself and see what is most profitable!
If you plan on going the industrial route, start making spreadsheets in Excel or openoffice. It's the only way as no one will tell what to manufacture. If they did, then everyone would start making them and the profit would crash.

How you do this: Work out what it costs to manufacture an item. (Even if you mined the minerals yourself, they have a cost; you can work out what you want to be making for your time and calculate your mineral costs out on isk per hour or, if that is a mind-numbingly horribly complex idea, you can, like me, work it out off market prices for the minerals.)
Then look at the market prices of things on the market and work out what you can manufacture at a lower cost than the sell price.
Bear in mind that for larger items, profit potential can be higher, but researched blueprints are a necessity and the blueprints themselves can be very expensive; buying copies of researched blueprints can be profitable, however.

It's practically a requirement to have Production Efficiency trained to V. Aside from that, market research will be the bulk of your success. Expect to find your profits in volume, not one-off hits. Once you build up some cash, it will be relatively simple to get rolling strong. Make some friends, and you might be able to get some deals to either lower your cost, or save you time (perhaps by getting materials closer to you).
Most ships have a pretty small margin of profit, so you still need to have volume plus a good market. You can make caps with a decent profit (still a small margin), but that requires a pretty hefty front end investment.

Tip: Don't try to compete with Jita prices, or sell in Jita.
I make a positive killing selling stuff in other places, though I still buy nearly all my materials in Jita.
Hop in a shuttle and travel around. Learn the markets. This can take a few days per region.
If I have a choice between paying 10% more or making 10 jumps, I'll often just pay more. Same for many other people. Location, location, location!

And remember, any minerals you mine yourself are FREE, so don't use them in your calculations.

Ammo.
Placed in key positions that might not be the norm. Off mission hubs, hugging low sec, or just inside low if you want (really isn't that difficult to do). Priced up for premium. Profit margins are quite nice, actually really really nice compared to majority of things, if done correctly.
If you build ammo.. they will sell. Demand is always very high, to the point location is a minor concern.. to a point.

Im new to the game, and i've went down an industrial route.
I spend a lot of the day mining. Whilst mining, im looking through BPC contracts. As im new, I cant afford the BPOs, but BPCs are much cheaper.
I've jotted down the average prices I could sell the ore, and the refined minerals, at some market hotspots that I dont mind travelling 20 jumps for. As well as my local area. Quite a lot though, im just as well selling the ore/minerals on their own, than spending a few extra thousand ISK on making something with them. However I do come across blueprints where I could make a decent profit!

Its not a question about which - "ONE" - BP to invest in, as next week that one will be out of commision. We're talking loads and loads of BPs, for a line of products. "Oh I need to get *this*, oh I can just go to ForrestGump12 in X he has everything I need and he is just 2 jumps away." "magnibit lenibit ulteribit" |

For now you should probly stick to consumables. Like ammo/mining crystals. But it is much better later on when you can put out a crap load of differnt stuff in one area as stated above somewere probly already.
If pilots can go to one spot for everything they need reather then doing the jumpie jumpie dockie dockie all over the region thats were there bound to go. Is it a rock? Point a Lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship? Point a Lazer at it and profit. I dont realy see any differnces here. |
