Poses are ment too be attacked by massive fleets aka 50+ ships and need too be able too defend themselves from them>
*snip*
It takes an apoc with tachs about 2.5 hours too completely disable a poses shield.
50+ is gonna take maybe 10 minutes. *snip*

Considering that a control tower costs 90 odd million, plus the guns, silos, variuos modules etc...for a total of 140-200 mil, PLUS the cost of running it for a month (400-600 mil depending on who you ask), thats say 700 mil and change for the first month.
Now imagine that you just warped in on 3 Apocs, 2 Megas, and 2 Ravens, within their weapons envelope.
How long do you think you would last? Answer: NOT very long at all.
Same thing. Pretty funny tho when you think about it.
Pretty much anyone warping in at over 20K could warp out easily (unless someone is fitting a lot of sensor boosters). The issue with POS is that they pull the NPC trick of instalocking you and begin the WTFPWNage before your screen even loads.
I am fully confident that POS sentries will have a major nerf in a month or two. The current situation is solely to get some POS setup and get them economically integrated (a running cost reduction would help more then uber sentries).
But will does raise a valid point. With sentries as they are you will not see a fleet taking on a defended POS, because the amount of ships required to win is more then the server can handle (and even then the losses on the attackers said would be far more then the cost of the POS). Instead you will just have gate camps in an attempt to keep supplies out.
Does anyone here, who disagrees with will, actually know how boring a gate camp is? People where expecting to bring 30-40 BS fleets and slug it out with POS *plus* the owners of the POS. Currently the owners can sit safely behind the shield and let the sentries do all the work. Booooooring. --------------------------------------------------
