After many weeks of hard work on the Eve Online test server Singularity, an Eve University team has completed a full guide on the main feature of the new expansion: Planetary Interaction.
The guide includes detailed instructions and information about all aspects of Planetary Interactions, as well as a quick start video that allows you to dive into Planetary Interaction straight away. With this guide Eve University is most likely the first to release such a complete information resource on the new feature.
Those of you who are interested in Planetary Interaction should find this guide very useful.

That's a very nice intro to PI.
However, does anyone have the details on how to avoid waste due to loss? Back when I played with PI on Sisi it seemed like there were a zillion ways to lose resources even if you used a storage facility.
For example, would it be a good idea (or even possible) to set up a route with Many_Extractors -> Storage -> 2xProcessors and have each Processor only pull in 6,000 unit blocks at a time? Basically I want to avoid the problem where 3,000 units go to processor 1 and 3,000 units go to processor 2, and nothing gets processed despite having 6,000 resource units.

Nice guide! Thanks for making it available.
I've a addition for the Planetary Commodities page at the section 'Tier 2 - Refined Commodities (P2)': Rocket Fuel and Super Conductors are both T2 Components, too

Thanks for great guide. As someone who has not been able to get use SISI(no HDD space to install client) I've had to rely on forum titbits to try and get head start on what to do after to patch to get started.
This is really useful for me.

Many thanks for the guide, it's excellent! I have spent the morning reading the guide and working out what I have to do to make certain P3 items... lots of , and
Still, will be interesting with the effects it'll have on the market for some goods

Nice guide.
I might have missed something, but if I go out and find a planet to play with and someone else has already setup a command centre, can I also start to use the planet? At the moment I'm not in a corporation so this is something I want to dabble in solo.

Dierdra,
First of all, a big THANK YOU to you and the E-Uni team that worked so hard putting this project together!!! A lot of very useful info
Now to my questions:
1. If I, as a member of a corp, set up say 5 planets to extract/produce fuels for our pos, am I the only one that can pick up the goods, or can a corp member also pick up (or perhaps even manage the command centers)?
2. Are the colonies transferable? for instance, if I know that I will be out of game for a while, can I transfer ownership to another corpi? or, can a colony be "taken over"? (I occasionally experience ISP outages lasting up to 2 weeks )

Dierdra, would you recommend that a storage facility be built between every extrator, industries and launchpad?

Edited by: Qoi on 30/05/2010 18:08:20 On most planets Storage is a waste of ressources. Just link everything to your launchpad, it should have enough storage for a whole day. (Make sure you process the base materials to Tier 1 though).
But this is just experience from SISI a week ago, so your milage may vary. :)
Edit: Oh and of course route from extractor -> launchpad -> processor -> launchpad, so the launchpad storage acts as a buffer.

Given your experience on PI, would you say that Advanced CC is sufficient? Should people spend 18 days to train for CC Upgrade V?

The difference is 17.000 MW -> 19.000 MW, which means two additional extractors per planet. This can be a nice buff, but most players won't use PI as their primary source of income. I'd say it's probably not worth it for most players, until you have nothing better to skill. It really depends - as always
I'd definitely wait until we see how much money can be made with PI. (After the market turmoil etc)
