How much real world money, would you pay to change your character's name?
I'd gladly pay a month's subscription to have a name that is less likely to be called primary.
So, How much would you pay?
Hopefully if the number are high enough, CCP will realize theres a massive untapped cash cow on their hands.
It could work like a portrait swap, heck they could even have a name history so people could still look you up eventually.
and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Why nerf the people who chose awesome names to begin with?

How about no?
being a recruiter i can tell you its a ****load of work to get all the information together about a recruit, having to check through a additional Name change history would be just horrible.
If you want a new name, buy a new char off the bazar.

You'll still be primary, as everyone else will change their name to include as many of the letter M at the beginning as possible.

Edited by: Kurfin on 07/05/2010 17:39:14 Or to come at it from another angle, because everyone beginning their name with M or N would get silly and old very quickly. How about disabling sorting by name, and instead sort by a invisible number assigned every time a player logs in (or changes system, which whichever is easier to implement). This would enable fleet commanders to still have the list of targets in the same order as all of those under his/her command, but without leaving people with a name beginning with a letter at either extreme of the alphabet at a disadvantage.

You ever hear about alts?
The concept of 'player reputation' is flawed. Everyone just hops on another character to take advantage of what they learned on one character, and you never know better. Or they do nothing nasty on a character with a good rep until the proper opportunity presents itself. Also the worse someone is, the nicer a front they'll put up. "He uses alot of smileys, and has a clean background. He must be legit, lets give him full hangar access".
Letting people change their names wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Why not just fly a ship thats less likely to be considered a primary regardless of your name

Getting called primary all the time? Cool stuff! Always fit a hero tank and give the secondary another volley time to live. --------

Hmmm...I think if you're attacking the pilot's name and not the ship, you might be doing it wrong.

Easy solution for that. Change your name, get an entry in your bio that cannot be edited/removed by the player that says
"Player name changed from Duckhumper to Tieo Thenelopolis on 07/05/2010"
And if you search for the OLD name(Duckhumper in this example) it'll automagically pull up Tieo Thenelopolis's name.
