Greetings fellow eve capsuleers -
I have but one humble request, meant to address frequently discussed issue of immersion and overall enjoyment of the great game that is EVE Online.
While I was surfing youtube, I came across the old Dominion trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDVEHE10nHc&feature=channel
That got me thinking. We are always complaining about how the game isn't as exciting as the trailers make them seem. This is an inherant problem of visual ad vs. reality, but I believe the problem lies further within the lack of proper cinematic tool that allows smooth recording (maybe even LIVE!) of space battles.
Can you imagine how much more exciting and immersive it will be to bring what is shown in the trailer into reality? There comes a point in every pod pilot's career when u tire of having to always watch from the ship's perspective, lacking movie-like quality that makes the whole event of space battleship opera much more exciting and enjoyable. I believe EVE deserves such a treatment.
FRAPS requires a pilot to play the 'cameraman', and is also subject to various lags and other technical limitations. Therefore, I believe this is an insufficient to meet the need for brining EVE alive in a grand scale portrayed in cinematics.
I know this maybe a tall request, but would CCP consider an in-game cinematic tool (or some kind of that will allow pilots to view events live as battle progresses, and record them as well?
There's so much exicitement about possibilities this idea can bring that I am a bit incomprehensive atm....however I believe you get the general gist of the idea: To bring cinematic experience to EVE that is smooth and lag-free.
Let the discussion/DEV inputs begin!

I assume you found the advanced camera controls
However I would like a recorder that records battles in coordinates, etc. instead of just recording the screen, that way you can render them afterwards at decent framerates. --------------------------------------------- Xeross' ventures into EVE |

This sounds a lot like one of my old suggestions, which was locked a long time ago and centered around an alliance tournament, but would work for any battle recording, allowing fine tuning and replaying of whatever you wanted.

Problem is, people would also use these co-ord cameras for recon and not just for recording. Majorly why I think the current 'advanced' camera functions are the way they are.

It seems you didn't understand the meaning of reply. You can't record space where you aren't present. Suggestion was made to record the grid scenery in some form for a later replay, to allow operators to work with cameras as they want and from as many POV's as they need. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

CCP has said they have internal tools for this.
The tools need UI and a bunch of work for release to the public but sounds like it will happen someday.
