Edited by: Beltze Sorgin on 04/05/2010 11:25:49 Interesting question. I'd say since when you warp you'll be out of sensor range & hence lock if the target makes a small course correction then they won't be where the missiles expect them to be so they'll miss.

Actually, if I remember correctly, they stop dealing any damage as soon as you engage the warp drive, even if you haven't yet warped off. The only exception to that are bombs (from a stealth bomber) which always deal damage even if you're already off-grid when they blow up.

Tested this couple of weeks ago and Akita is right. The moment you enter warp (and lose lock) missiles in transit will miss, except bombs.

Interesting. So it's once you engage warp, eh? Not once you leave the grid? Not once you lose lock?
This has much implications for stealth bomb0rz. ------ sig |

Except that, as noted, it doesn't affect the bombs themselves, since (I presume) they don't require a target lock to begin with. It would only affect the torpedos. --Vel

If you leave grid or cloak your missiles turn stupid and just fly off... --------------------------------------------

Bombs travel 30km from their point origin to a spot you're currently aligned (moving) to and then explode.

Then i must be breaking the game. Because, I remember when I was fighting a tough fight. I engaged warp to go repair. Right before my warp drive did the warp animation, (Already aligned.) My missiles fired. I received no damage notifications, but when I flew back in, the battle cruiser was destroyed. My missiles must have hit Welcome to EVE. |

It may have already been dead before those particular missiles would have hit it anyway.

Unless you: Leave system (i.e.jump through a gate or bridge) Dock, or Die
In which case they will fail to detonate. You need to be in the system and in your Stealth Bomber to have the bomb detonate.

This could also be explained by a slight de-sync. The database hadn't quite registered your warp drive activation and the missiles arrived just in time.
I wouldn't rely on it. I think you just got lucky. ______________________ Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University. |
