So last night I and a couple buddies had the most amazing incident of belt piracy (sort of). One of them was merely passing through a low sec system which is normally devoid of life but this time he saw about 10 guys in local, all the same alliance. Peaking his curiosity he began to search for them in his anathema. Arriving at planet 4, he found an orca, thanatos, 5-6 t1 barges and a couple drakes on scan near him. Surely at a POS he thought...
He narrowed them down with his directional, there was a POS at one of planet 4's moons but they weren't there, they were in asteroid belt 4-2! Sadly all he had in the area was that anathema, I was 15+ jumps out and another guy was next door but limited on ship choices. We knew we couldn't grab them all, but we wanted atleast the thanny and ideally the orca too. While our buddy in the anathema watched them while cloaked, I and Mina hatched a plan. The anathema would tackle the thanny while one of my alts popped a cyno on top of them. We would jump in my revelation and his archon. Both of which would be fitted with points for this exercise. After moving to within 1 cyno jump, we we're ready.
I warped my alt to the belt from 30au away (SS) and as I dropped out of warp the anathema decloaked to point the thanny. The cyno went up and instantly the archon and revelation were there. I pointed the thanny before sieging while the archon got a lock. Once his point was confirmed, I sieged and let loose. At which point the anathema left the fray, his job was done. Amazingly the miners and escorts seemed asleep at the wheel. Many stayed for 20-30 seconds before realizing they were under attack. Though my sieged dread couldn't lock them in time, mina's archon did pop one of the covetors. An escorting drake also remained behind to fight us. But the fool stayed completely stationary and was two volleyed by my rev's gigapulses.
The orca sadly was out of range, sitting about 50km all off on his own and warping before my revelation even arrived. That said the thanny soon fell under the might of my dread and mina's archon. While I waited out my siege cycle, mina warped to a safe and started trying to sort out a hauler to grab our loot. And then it happened, something totally unexpected, the fools came back for round two. As I was leaving seige a manticore decloaked and pointed me, I knew the 20 dread hotdrop was coming.
But no, he then target painted me too and started firing torpedoes. Oh no! I threw my warrior II's at him and pointed him right back while informing mina. Seconds later a pair of drakes and a raven landed as well. All bent on revenge. No cyno was popped. Smelling blood, I entered siege once more.
The raven was smart, orbiting me at about 10km but the drakes, as with the first drake, sat completely stationary about 15-20km in front of me. I 2 shotted one, and alpha'd the second. I also pointed the raven and waited for mina's archon to arrive as my guns could not hit him. Mina then proceeded to finish the job with his murderous fighters. All the while, the manticore mysteriously disappeared. At first I thought he'd simply warped off, but no, he was solo killed by my rev's warriors while not pointed or even locked.
In total, a revelation, archon and anathema killed: 1x Thanatos, 1x Raven, 3x Drakes, 1x Manticore and 1x Covetor. We collected around 300M isk in loot not counting salvage. No ships or drones were lost on our side. Even the faceless alt sitting in a throw away cyno frig survived.
I realize hotdrops happen all the time and so that is nothing terribly special. However the nature of the fight, and the fact that they came back for round two with such a pathetic force just makes it far too hilarious not to post here imho. And other than the thanny, all of them were either insta-popped or tackled by a capital. I would also like to confess that this required very little skill on our part, our success is thanks almost entirely to their epic stupidity.
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

You guys make squeeky noises when you pop, and that's enough motivation as far as I'm concerned. |

I am confused as to why you sieged a second time solely to kill a Raven.

Does not compute. Bzzzzt. How long did he take to lock again?

The manticore attacked with me out of siege, with 2 sensor boosters it took about 20 seconds to lock, point and throw warriors at him. I did not relock him upon entering siege. I re-entered siege so I could insta kill the raven and 2 drakes. At the time they were stationary however as I was locking the raven after entering siege, he started to move. The drakes however remained stationary and were killed instantly.

Praise their courage, I say! You should thank them for the hell of a time you guys had.
They might not have been the smartest bunch, but they sure as hell had the guts. Large lowsec mining ops like that aren't so very common I reckon. Help us to make parrots game related today! |

This. Mining in low-sec is both unprofitable and extremely dangerous (as evidenced by the OP). Tbh, the only people who mine in low-sec are idiots, noobs, and baiters. ===
I wonder if this is a bannable offense... |

Like I said; they might not have been the smartest bunch but they served the OP and his friend well in providing some quality gametime. Amirite? Help us to make parrots game related today! |
