I've been flying Caldari for missions lately. I am looking to switch to Amarr for a little PvP. What skills should I look into training for BC's and BS's? Can Amarr shield tank? Which type of lasers should I look into getting?
And.. what is the first Amarr ship I should look into for learning PvP?

Autocannon fit punishers are quite popular.

Some of them sure can. The Harb, Zealot, and Curse perform best with an LSE tank. By no means is that a complete list, but for most other Amarr ships it's not such a good idea. |

So for the majority of Amarr ships, I should get armor tanking skills?

You could always PvP in Caldari ships. _______________________ We come for our people! |

Yes, except for the Curse which is shield tanked.

I'd suggest an armor tanked harbinger, personally. also pretty useful for L1&2 wormholes if fitted right!

Yea, Im for sure going this route. I've been using a Harbinger for L3 missions for now. I didn't realize my armor tanking skills were actually decent lol.
Gunnery and AWU are the main things I am lacking >.<

I only fly amarr ships and I would usually be damned if I put a sheild tank on one of them! Although as much as I hate to admit it, some of them are deacent at sheild tanking, but don't expect to get anything as good as you do on a Caldari ship. A good start for PVP ships for amarr would be a harbinger BC or an Armageddon BS. Armour tank them both, its what that huge capacitor is for! Also armour tanking gives you space for the all important web and disrupter in the med slots without compromising the tank. Both of them have bonuses to energy turret damage too which is good for PVP.
On the subject of lasers, it's really down to personal preferance and fit. Beams do more damage and have a better range than pulses, but if something is moving then don't expect to hit it with beams (slight overexageration) and they also are harder to fit due bigger CPU and powergrid needs. So for PVP I would suggest going with pulse lasers for the mean time.
Hope that helped slightly

This: Amarr ships tend to lack midslots. If you want to fit the standard PVP midslot modules there are not the slots available for midslot shield tanking on many Amarr ships so on such ships don't bother with a shield tank. Amarr ships often have thin shields so shield tanking them is difficult.
Use the low slots for an armor tank with a damage control.
