I see alot of guides on how to avoid being scammed when BUYING a character through character transfer, but is it possible that a deal might be too good to be true on the toon SELLER end?
Please convey your thoughts, I'm recently selling a very good char for what seems to be a deal too good to be true. Could i be getting scammed? Removed password protected killboard link in signature - Mitnal |

I see alot of views and not enough replys so maybe I should be more clear with my question
Your selling a character, You think your going by the guide in all its correctness. Your about to sell a toon and for some reason the little man on your shoulder is sayin "Its too goo to be true, thats some good amount of isk for you **** toon"
Could it be possible that your getting scammmed in any sort of way by the Buyer Removed password protected killboard link in signature - Mitnal |

You can not scam or be scammed in the character bizarre section if you follow the rules. Make sure everything in the thread and none of the 'secret' ****. If you get scammed petition, tell them what happened and a GM will reverse it all.
Its one of the very few times you can get banned for scamming.

Pretty much what I'm getting out of this is take the risk if somehow this guy runs away with the money and my toon petition him and the brave GM's will make it all better for me?
You've got to be kidding me. I think only one time I've been fully helped by a GM, and that was when I was being out right racially slandered.... and even then the dude didnt get banned. Removed password protected killboard link in signature - Mitnal |

Been a way for a while, so CB may have changed, but I've never, ever, sold a character without getting payment BEFORE transfer. That's why buyers get scammed and sellers don't.
If you're spending $20 RL dollars, and transferring a character BEFORE getting iskies, you completely fail at Character Trading, and should stay far, far away from the CB.

You should have escalated the petition to a senior GM. Also I am gathering your petition was dealt with by CCP Adolf.
Regarding character trade scams though, as long as you follow the rules and procedures as set by CCP then you should not have any problems. If someone takes your isk and runs off with it then you petition linking the thread where the trade has been agreed and CCP will look into it and get your isk back + ban the scammer. If selling a character make sure you get the isk from the buyer and then send the character to the account as previously agreed. Make sure you transfer the isk to an alt before handing over the character as sending them the character + isk is not a good idea. If buying a character you ensure that the conditions are agreed upon by both parties on the character sales thread before sending any isk. The forum thread is like a contract, and it is proof for CCP to quickly investigate any issues and sort them quickly and effectively.

You can get banned for selling someone a 15b isk Sleipnir while you happen to be auctioning your character. =/ It's best to just not even mess with it imo. Even if you're doing everything according to the posted rules, CCP will always side with the victim.

Why?
As according to CCP rules it is not supposed to be any assets left on the character you are selling. It is the character that is for sale and not anything in stations or wallet. How you get rid of your stuff should be up to you.
It is even petitionable if someone moves the character to the receiving account and forgets to remove the ISK, as stated by CCP.
Follow the guide in the "bizarre" section of this forum and the OP should do just fine.

Here is a nightmarish story that my RL friend had which he ended up leaving EVE altogether.
One night, we noticed one of our corp members quit corp and soon after someone saw his char for sale on forums and his advertisements in jita local. Someone hacked into his account, tried to sell all his assets along with his character. He was dealing with CCP but CCP couldn't reimburse him completely and he quit the game.
I guess what I am getting at, do not buy a character where he is rushing for a payment and looking for a quick sale.
