Edited by: Lycanthis on 23/04/2010 21:00:03 Hello All,
I'm Lycanthis and as the title and dev blog suggest, I am running for CSM. I am a 30 year old father of 2. I have been an avid gamer since I was 5 (go go C64), and have been involved in MMOs for about 12 years. I am a well rounded player with experience in mining, missioning, pvp, trade, poses, industry, high-sec, 0.0, ect. I have participated in well just about everything EVE has to offer. The only exception to that is low-sec activities.
As a CSM I have the free time and desire to represent each of you. I make this campaign promise that I will never miss a meeting and will give the CSM process the full attention it deserves.
As your CSM I plan to focus on:
- LAG, especially now that without deep safes you cannot "pre-load" a system
- Planets (more importantly making sure CCP follows through on continual developement)
- With the loss of minerals from loot that mineral supply is balanced.
- No insurance payment if you're concorded (I don't have anything against suicide ganking, but getting rewarded for commiting a "crime" is a bit silly).
- Assault frigs where is the love? Why does the retribution only get 1 mid slot?
- I would like to see an expanded corporation roles system that is not restricted down to all or none access
- What happened to standings based on location?
- Making low-sec more than just gank or be ganked(or dock)
- Small gangs are much more fun than blobs (perhaps making a way to damage system indexes, with a restricted number of ships)
Want to know where I stand on an issue? Simply ask me.

As a person working alongside Lycanthis on a daily bases my opinion is probably biased however I think with his knowledge and experiance in EVE over the years and the fact that he has some plans I strongly agree with he would be an excelent person for CSM5.
Also he spends a huge amount of his time (even when he should be working) and his love for the game speaks for itself.
+1 vote from me :) -------------

I am fairly new to SYS-K, but I have had the opportunity to be in a few fleets with Lycanthis, and I am confident in his skills. Vote for Lycanthis for CSM 5!

Quote: A pos based (sov index linked) system cloak nulification array("would you like to know more?")
Please elaborate on that, would it just prevent cloaking, friend and foe.. or would it be something that would aid in scanning a cloaker down if they was sitting still long enough? Details would be appreciated here, since it's such a radical idea.

I am glad you asked, i was a bit afraid no one was listening, and I was only talking to the voices in my head again
Everyone and, I mean everyone, hates when a guy pulls up in system and sits cloaked for days at a time. He is not doing anything constructive or destructive. Let me pause here to say I am not talking about a recon gang that lays in wait to kill ratters or cyno in BO hot drops(shout out to my brick brosefs). I'm talking about a cloaked rifter. Most of the time it is just an alt afk sitting there to be an eye sore in intel channels.
My idea for this would be a cloak module nullification array(the guy who makes up cool names in the bathroom, we will just call it "the array" for now). There are 5 levels of system sov index, so depending on balance, anchoring ability would be linked to one of those levels. Of course this would also cost the sov holder more isk/month, and hauling the ihub upgrade from empire, which would mean it is one of those upgrades you have to determine if you really need. The array would have a hefty pg/cpu requirement (along the lines of what a cyno jammer needs) so it would require a large pos be up. (Keep in mind that I do not have my own personal SISI to balance test these numbers on.) The array would require an hour to online, would stay online for five minutes, and then would take 2 hours to offline and return to an anchored status.(or if an offline timer was too hard to code, it could auto-unanchor and have a two hour anchor time, the point is a long cooldown) While the array is online all cloaks go inactive, like a mwd hit with a scram, in the entire system, for every ship. If the cloaker is afk five minutes is more than enough to probe and pod. If the cloaker was instead gathering intel and not just not afk, most decent players know how to bounce safe spots enough that five minutes should pose no threat to them.
Others have talked about cloaks requiring cap or fuel as a solution. I do not believe this is the best answer as it puts the burden on the cloaker. I feel a pos array puts the work and cost on the defender, if you want them stopped it is on your head and wallet to do it.

A friend in game asked me what I thought about skipping one or more expansions in favor of CCP taking time to fine tune existing content. I support this 100%. I think CCP's epeen demands of them the 2 expansions a year and I don't know how open they would be to the idea but I would certain push for it. They could use this winter expansion time to do this.

I agree with this completely. As an example, I think Tyrannis would have been much better if they'd spent another six months on making it actually resemble what they described at the last FanFest.
Also, there are lots of partially-implemented, potentially cool things in EVE, like COSMOS, that I'd like to see receive more attention.

Honestly, I think if there was a CSM that ran on a platform of nothing but UI overhaul, they'd get my vote. I think it's well past time that it's done and I haven't seen CCP even acknowledge that it needs work.

After knowing and working (within Eve) alongside Lyc for too many years now,I can say yes I am biased but this man works tirelessly behind the scenes for our corp and is knowledable on almost every subject within Eve. He and a few others within corp are our Eve wiki. He has always shown integrity in everything he has done. He would make an excellent candidate for CSM. He has shown his knowledge over the years is invaluable in making decisions and also he has solid ideas on how things should be
My vote will most definately be for him.
BTW i am his CEO so obviously I am biased

After having watched Lycanthis almost singlehandedly manage our entire corp's infrastructure and logistics over the years, I know that there is no other person I'd rather have as a CSM representative. Lycanthis' dedication to the game is awe inspiring, and I know for sure he'll bring a focused, down to earth intensity to the CSM.
This is not the candidate to vote for if you want empty promises of 100% fixed lag and amazing flashy new ships. This is the candidate to vote for if you want genuine useful fixes to problems that are actually within CCP's power to aim at.
PS Lyc we want better cyno graphics and more awesome effects / ship death animations too, thanks ___________

I see that CCP delayed the patch to work on it further. Looks like the CSM process works well with all the people campaigning on this issue. I'm not going to say that was the sole reason, but I'll bet they noticed that people want things in a more "finished" state.
