Greetings C&P
Why is bumping considered harassment, which someone can petition you for. (I am talking about bumping someone outside of the docking perimeter using a neutral, not randomly bumping someone's hulk in a belt or whatever) but neutral remote rep isn't?
I have never seen anyone get banned/warned for bumping outside the dock, I just presume it is because I've been bumping some dock huggers in my 100mn mwd fleet stabber outside the Dodixie dock and they all convo me angrily and say they're going to petition me/wardec me etc. and cry in local.
It just strikes me as odd that using a neutral to put someone in a vulnerable position is 'unfair' or 'harassment' when a neutral remote repairing/boosting guardian or whatever, which puts the dock huggers victim into an 'unfair' position is considered fair play.
Personally I think that both things are completely legal, although in some circumstances, lame. If you've ever been warned for bumping someone so you can kill them I'd love to hear from you, so far I've gotten 5 threats but no warning at all, I've stopped bumping dock huggers when they've convo'd me though just to be on the safe side.
Is it because most dock hugging PvPers are carebears (their manners and attitude is very similar to a miner who just lost his hulk), they get very angry when suddenly they are at great risk and cannot just instantly redock, where as with remote repair they don't lose their ship if their opponent has it too, and it aids them in docking.
tl;dr do you think bumping people away from the dock perimeter is harrassment? ---

Bumping has never been harrasment unless you do it for a looooong time against someone for no reason. Bumping someone off a station is a very good reason, hence why its perfectely legal.

Everyone who has ever pvp'd in empire has tried to bump at some point. Is it harrassment? - No People who are as dumb as a box of rocks and cant understand timers or aggression mechanics will cry. Threatening you with the banstick is laughable though.
Either way, nice job on the tears |

I love 100mn MWD cruisers, used to do it with a Zealot and would after a very long run-up bump Battleships some 30-40km at a time it worked on Capships too, was hilarious
I can't see how anyone would think it was harassment though, it's no different from bumping someone off a gate to stop them jumping out.

I would have thought they differ mostly in how the mechanics treat them.. Neut reps go flashy once they are exposed, so you cant really petition them as you can actually shoot them (if you can get to them before they dock) where as neut bumping doesn't.
I would have thought the solution to this would have been easy to work out. Just make it so bumping someone away from the station while they are being agrod makes you flashy to that person just like remote reps.

The carnage that would unleash in Jita 4-4 would be staggering, and perhaps useful in clearing the undock point.

Dodixie residents and crying about petitions and foul play go hand in hand.
Leaving there was the best decision I ever made. ~_~

I'm disappointed. I thought this thread would be about using bumping tactics to separate remote rep battleships. As for bumping being harassment, I wouldn't relent on the bumpage unless a GM tells you personally to stop.

Only thing I know of is bumping some freighter in high sec while it's trying to align out, repeatdly and for no other reason that to be annoying.
Had some ****** yell at me for bumping as well about a week ago, even went as far as him yelling "bump me again and you lose the toon!" and by that he meant he'd petition after which I obviously would get banned.

It'd work great, sometimes even bumping multiple ships in different directions at 3km/sec+. Only prob is you need a 100km+ run-up and to overheat to get to the required speed for an epic bump. It's great on stations, but anywhere else not very practical sadly

i don't understand why you would stop doing it after they convo you. you are bumping with an actual intent, not randomly bumping some charon at jita 4-4. seems legit, from my point of view.

I love bumping people in my 100mn harby for no reason at all. I have never been yelled at or seen any QQ and such.
I feel that it should be perfectly legal to bump just about anything. (excluding freighters, I fly one from time to time, leave them be)
