I had engaged in PvP combat in lowsec (0.3), I waiting for the 15 minute global criminal countdown to go away. I then jumped into highsec (0.5) without issue and set auto pilot to go a few jumps and went away. When I came back I was in a pod. Turns out Federation Navy blew me up in the first 1.0 system I hit. Note I jumped 0.5 -> 0.6 -> 0.8 and then to 1.0 before being engaged and destroyed...
My security status is +4.4 +4.4 standing with Concord +0.1 standing with Federation Navy
This doesn't make sense to me. I wasn't flagged as a criminal and I have excellent security status (YES its + 4.4 not -)... what could have possibly caused me to be targeted by them in 1.0 but not in the high sec systems before that?

What is your Standing with the Gallente Faction?
It sounds like it is on the negative side, and low enough ofr you to be attacked by Faction police/Navy in 1.0 systems (system sec level scales with how negative your Faction stading is towrds the race, i.e. Gallente in this case).
It is perfectly possible to be positive to a lot of Gallente corps, including Federation Navy, but be negative towards Gallente race, due to e.g. working a lot for Amarr og Caldari too.
Please check that, as that is the only possible reason I see for your ship loss

It would also happen if you are in Faction Wars, irrespective of standings.

Edited by: Zek Khrakhed on 22/04/2010 23:25:39 i have absolutely no negative standing cause i've only run a couple missions with my newbie corp. i was out in 0.0 ratting for a long time which is why my security status got so high though. no illegal cargo either. I just traveled back to the system I was killed in while in a newbie ship to make sure it wasn't a faction issue.
the only thing that makes sense is that they were trying to kill me in the high sec system (0.5) due to a criminal timer (that had disappeared but apparently was still active) and i just didnt notice and managed to evade death until 1.0 where I guess NPC's are super powerful. Does that make sense though? Could a raven survive 3 high sec jumps with a global criminal countdown?

Your GCC is a separate thing from your factional aggression count down. And that count down is refreshed every time the sentries engage. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

From the wiki entry on GCC
Quote: Sentry guns near gates and stations will shoot you, getting you an additional aggression flag toward the owning corp. I.e. if you get a GCC in open space, then warp near a gate or station five minutes after, you'll get a new aggression timer with the NPC corporation owning the guns, that will last 15 minutes itself. So you'll continue to be shot at by the relevant guns after your GCC has expired, each time the timer being reset to 15 minutes.
I was just about to suggest that. I found it in a "how-to-be-a-pirate" guide somewhere. Always wait out your timer in a safe spot ....

Would the fed navy engage only on entry into the system?
It seems like a raven on autopilot would take a hell of a long time to travel the 15km to the exit gate and if it was engaged there it wouldn't survive even the first system.

This is purely anecdotal but I was in a Drake, without the hardeners on, and on autopilot. I was in FW and stupidly not noticed I would be flying though a few Gallante systems. I made a coffee, came back and I was jumping out of a Gallante system with less than half shields, not a lot really. I docked up and then found out, as others have said, I can manually pilot in enemy space quite easily.
Only Concorde are the instant killers.
