Edited by: Julian Theodoulos on 21/04/2010 15:11:34 Hello All,
Just got the latest patch for SISI and climbed on in order to figure out how this new feature of Planetary Mining is going to take place.
Does anyone know if there are basic instructions on how to set things up? I figured out a little bit, but am not sure exactly what I am doing.
1. I took a Command Center out to a planet and then launched it. 2. Once it was online, I built extractors, processor, storage, and a spaceport. 3. I then linked each module to each other <?>
My current questions are: 1. Is there a specific manner or path for these links? Do I connect everything to the Command Center, or do I setup a path (extractors to processor to storage to spaceport)? 2. Is there an "on switch" that I have to activate to get the colony started? 3. Do I need an orbiting station to receive my raw materials? 4. How long do I wait until I see the flow of "goodness" coming up from the surface?
Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

1. extractor to processor to processor/command centre 2. click submit (it's hidden behind the chat box)(you will need to survey for resources as well) 3. you will get a bookmark in your journal to the rocket 4. as short or as long as you want, but it's best to let your command centre fill up for a while

Thank you.
Now that my storage facility is filling up with base metals and suspended plasma, I would think that I would want to get these off the planet and into my ship's cargo hold.
I try to create a link from my storage facility to my spaceport, but it says that the products cannot be routed there since it is not a proper consumable destination. I think it is suggesting that I route it to my processor, but it also gives me the same error message.
Any suggestions?

you should currently rout any production to your CC(you can force move it too just click on the inventory then select expidited transfer and mess with the popup page) then from the CC click on the "rocket" and select what you want to launch.
right now getting anything from the customs station is a bit buggy so just do the launch wait for the countdown to finish, open your journal select Planetary lunches then look for the countdown and select warp to. . .(if your in the same system)
Edit note, planetary lunches? oy! need food!

Keep links as short as possible. You DON'T need direct links to move stuff; a single route can pass through multiple links taking the shortest route. I try to keep a route under 5 links though.
I typically use: extractors -> storage -> processor -> command center
The Submit button can sometimes be hidden under the chat window.

The 'launch pad' or 'spaceport' or whatever it's called is rather badly named.
It's actually the landing pad for materials coming TO your planet - e.g. if you've produced something somewhere else and need it for your local processor.
To get things OFF the planet, route them to your command centre so they can be launched into space. Currently all launches FROM a planet are done from the command centre.
There's a huge discussion including instructions in the Test Server Feedback Forum. Look for posts by Tres Farmer - he knows what he's on about and has made several instructional posts (eve-search.com might also be useful). ______________________ Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University. |

Just saying, but that's for the old version of PI. The mechanics of how things work have changed enough that that video is basically useless.
For links to how certain mechanics work, try here. ---

Edited by: Becki on 26/05/2010 13:24:32 Well there are many manners on how to set up, tough some advies are:
Do NOT route from extractor too Processor directly, cuz if you extract more then the Processor can take the rest will be lost, if you extrect less, the processor stands still doing nothing.
Instead route from EXT to a Pin with storage room (CC, Space Port, Storage), so any any extra yield will go into that storage.
If you take PI serious u are going to need a spaceport anyway, so make it base of your network, route alle to and from here.
Connect the CC only if you need that additional storage, otherways save the CPU cost for the link.
I make batches of Ext, to keep link costs moderate, just the last one connects to the SP.
lastly i plant the processors as close to the SP as i can to save cpu again.
wome links will propably need an upgrade, so dont start all extractos at once, start with the farest to the SP scan and route the ressource, then the next one, that way you only need to upgrade the last links saving CPU again.
Why save so much CPU? 1st building efficient you can propably plant another EXT, and can afford longer linkts to the EXT batches and place em on better spots.
another advantage of storing in the SP ist, you can send your stuff safly to the customs office directly, instead of launching it into space through the CC and searching for the can.
