0.0 has always been carebear haven. Ever since I went from low sec to 0.0 everyoen I met was (well 90%) was carebears mining or ratting.
Since they are cearbears, they blob as a tactic :).
A few notable exeptions of course, but all the big allainces are carebears. Even so they got huge numbers and will blob you to death if you go against them, so being carebear does not make them harmless. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It would have been fine if EVERYONE would have had the ability to disappear from local. Not just him. Its the fact that he creates unfair advantages for himself.

Ok.. so the "invisible in local" exploit method did exist and is now resolved.
What about the ""teleport anyplace" claim? This was real?

No.
Not until the other half of the equation, that being the macros, is also dealt with.
How about a "hotfix" for THAT, CCP?

Edited by: Ellatan Deruimte on 27/04/2010 16:31:13 Thanks to everyone, who supported our effort! Special thanks to CCP, who managed to fix the bug so quickly, you guys are awesome.
As far as macrobotters go, if you come across one, then be sure to report in to CCP for investigation. I'm sure CCP will get better at catching them and another Unholy Rage will crash down on them.
As far as The monkeysphere goes - GM actions are not to be discussed, I doubt CCP will ever issue a statement about him. However, we will find out soon enough how good he is at catching ratters and bots without the use of that exploit, only time will tell.

What bothers me is that it took him 2 hours because he just happens to have already done the decoding work in relation to, shall we say, his 'other' projects.
'other' projects? Everyone can do 'other' projects, not only russians! I can't believe that they so smart.
You, as well, can start first 'other' project: Find answers for all questions in Donald E. Knuth TAOCP books. (take note: you can start earn cash! "If you are really a careful reader, you may be able to recoup more than the cost of the books this way.") Then move to W. Richard Stevens books, it will be easy after TAOCP, you will enjoy reading.
After some years of similar and 'other' projects, you can say - "two hours from scratch? why so long?"
I'm sorry, I was being polite, but as thats leading to misunderstanding I'll drop that tack now.
What I mean is, its absolutely impossible for anyone no matter how bright to decypher what means what with the Eve-Online client stream in a mere 2 hours. Infact the majority of the Devs would need more than 2 hours.
The reason it only took huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh and co. 2 hours is because they had already done it some time ago as they take a very deep interest in how the client works for the production of macro programs. What they've done here is taken the information they've already been using - ie watching the local stream for new clients to automatically move a ship ratting to safety and instead spoofed information to prevent the client appearing in local at all. Then they've gone and stated this must be exactly what the accussed is doing because otherwise their macro bots wouldn't have been failing like they have.
don't bet on it being that difficult. It your job, say maybe corporate network security, has you using low-level network software and you know your trade, then figuring out the contents of an MMO packet could be trivial.
Theoretically, it wouldn't be vastly more difficult than hacking a wireless network. The tools exist, and those versed in their usage commonly perform 'miracles' in short order.

what's left is for the pilots who petitioned ship losses to re open and escalate those petition, until a better explanation from ccp is posted.
the situation of their loss mirrors what ccp aknowledge was possible and is now hotfixed. will they be reimbursed, or will logs continue to show nothing? if they are reimbursed, is that not ccp agreeing that hack was used by one or more players in the ship kills?
we'd all like a bit more information besides 'it's fixed'.

I saw the mod thread relating to this and its great news they fixed it, now what I want to see is all the people who were sticking up for the cheaters in this thread to quietly uninstall eve and go away.
And I hope they perm banned the mother****ers doing it, but of course they won't release that info.
You people that stuck up for the exploiters really look stupid now and have lost any credibility you had whatsoever. This is clearly a signature. |

The idea to petition for ship reimbursements if you lost a ship to Monkeysphere isn't a bad one. People could get their answers about hax/no hax that way (the GMs either approve the petition or decline because Monkeysphere did not use an exploit). Communication is private, too. |

No I'm quite happy. Trash got exposed for what they are and an exploit got fixed. True colors were shown and fanbois were shamed. Its a glorious day indeed.
When people say "u mad" like that it reminds me of playing guild wars, and hopping on the losing HoH teams vent and screaming U MAD?????? good times
