Well I am now training to use Caldari ships because id like to try some missiles out. I have all missiles and other missile related skills at lvl 4.
I am going for the CNR as from what EFT suggests it has higher DPS/Volley output as I am doing this for PVE.
My question is this: Cruise or Torps? Im know little about missiles but what I can fathom is Torps are slower yet pack more of a punch but might not be great Vs frigates.
Cruise missiles have less punch but are better to hit frigates is this correct?

Active tank with cruise missiles on a CNR and you have a very nice mission runner. _________________________________

torps are much harder to fit and you need a target painter for them to work, plus you kinda need an AB to wiz around everywhere, unless you vsing angels then they come to you.
and rigors dont effect torps so you use range rigs instead

Edited by: Kidain on 18/04/2010 12:44:17 Cruise all the way. I did the same as you and went from Gall to Cald. Am currently training all the Caldari skills until they buff Hybrids, if ever.
Because of the "vast" range that Cruise give they are I find much easier for missioning. Torps are cracking up close and personal, bit like bigger HAMs in some ways.

Yeah thats my only issue with Gallente is even though my Proteus can throw 2000 volleys every 3 seconds, I can only hit with Thermal within 10km.
I wanna stop all the travel time using blasters and pound them from any distance. So missiles seem good for that.
Ok thanks for the info guys seem Cruise are the way to go.
Cheers

Cruise CNR, HML Nighthawk, AB-HAM Tengu are all good caldari options for missions

Cruise are pretty bad vs the elite frigates, but with target painter/rigour assistance, they'll kill the normal ones easily enough. That said, Caldari battleships do have drone bays, you know. Not like the ones you're used to, admittedly, but they're there. Signed, Pheusia |

Well Im looking at big volleys such as 4000 roughly, in the hope that it will mission faster than my T2/Faction fitted blaster proteus...which is quick itself.

Do not trust EFT numbers on missile DPS. There are a lot of factors that determine how much damage you do not the least of which is NPC defender missiles. I'm not sure how much DPS you lose to these but it looks to me like a whole turrets worth... but that's just from the visual effect.
