Is there anyone else experiencing MAJOR freezing?
Comp: Alienware Aurora Win7 64 bit i7 920 @ 2.67 Ghz Dual Radeon HD 5670 crossfire enabled 3 gigs ram
The Problem The only time i experience this problem is when i am playing EVE. OK i can play EVE (very smoothly) for a random amount of time (usually between 20 mins and 1.5 hours) before it freezes. When it freezes, it usually requires a manual restart. However sometimes i can minimize EVE (after waiting a very long time)and close it via task manager... After i close the game, my comp is extremely laggy (spike lags mostly (every few seconds (lasting about 10 secs))) When this lagging is taking place i am not reporting any CPU usage, all unnecessary processes are closed, and memory is at 35%.. Eventual restart is inevitable.
Also: My Graphics cars run at 42c idle 56 TOPS in EVE, the drivers are up to date. Alienware BIOS is up to date. Finally, if you want to know anything about my network, you are gonna have to explain how to find it.
I have no idea what the problem could be... If anyone can help or if anyone is having the same problem... Please post. Thanks. B.

I'm having the same issue, with a totally different hardware set-up to you, as are a few others.
Have a look at your CPU activity next time it happens, you may find it's banging away at 100% although task manager CPU activity will not show anything as using anywhere near that much.
This started for me last Eve patch and I have tried everything to sort it out with negative result so far.

Yup, I did that too, and tried every graphics driver I could lay my hands on, and turned every Eve setting down as far as it would go, and tried setting interrupt 1 in Eve settings, and tried limiting the Eve.EXE to a single core, and tried a 3rd party app to limit the FPS of the GPU, and tried doing the funky chicken in my kitchen whilst singing the blues, and tried reinstalling Eve, twice....
I'm now down to awaiting the next patch to see if it reverses whatever it did last patch, failing that I'm gone I spose....

I have the same issues as OP. Crossfired Radeon 4870's in my case. Testing shows that this is the problem, as if I disable crossfire or the catalyst AI (which also disables crossfire), I can play for long stretches without any issues.
I have had this issue on both 32 and 64bit windows 7.
Even turning all video settings down makes no difference, it is something to do with eve+crossfire as far as I can tell.
My system hard locks and then when I get back into windows get a popup saying windows crashed, blue screen blah blah.

haha hilarious... and if its not working on singularity then it will continue to happen (from what i understand). Maybe a CCP can confirm this? Hopefully...

Does it still freeze after the long stretch of time? Because sometimes i can play for an hour and a half. I'll try this tonight... and thanks for the info Sameth

Very odd, I have tried this and now it doesnt go into it's nutty 100% CPU mode after 10 minutes, but it does after an hour..!

this is interesting. I have been getting some odd 0.5 second freezes every 30 secs and they then become more frequent. I have found this was an issue over 2 years ago with a memory leak in the client. Now I did have a complete lock up the other day and the cursor change from a pointer to what looked like a quiver from an arrow (vertical line with line coming off the right side angling down to the bottom right. Small and unnoticeable).
I have reinstalled W7 64bit and eve aswell and seem to now have this freeze problem with 10.3 10.2 and 10.1 drivers. Was at first with 2 clients running but now is an issue with just 1 client running after about 1 hour. I fix would be nice a anyone with an explanation. I may revert back to the 9.10 drivers as they have always been the most stable IMO for all ATi cards.

I'm getting split second lag glitches all the time since the new patch and I'm using a pair of GTX295's. I never get high CPU or Memory usage. But it always seems to occur when trying to display any menu.

CPU: i7 930 Mobo: Asus P6X58D Premium Ram: 6GB DDR3 HDD: WD 2TB 64 mb cache PSU: XFX 850 watt OS: Windows 7 64 Pro Video: XFX ATI 5970 2gb Cat driver: 10.3
When I boot up after the pc being offline for an extended period of time. I load up eve then system hard locks, sometimes on login screen, sometimes on character select or in station. I then have to manually reboot. After that then I can get into game for a while. I haven't really tried to see how long I can stay in game but the initial hard lock is really bugging me. I just built this pc a couple weeks ago. 5970 is essentially crossfired so my problem sort of sounds like everyone else's. I thought the issue was with sound because sound would get stuck in an infinite loop, so I disabled the asus onboard sound in bios / uninstalled drivers and put in a sounblaster xfi, still locks up. I really don't know what else to try, EVE is the only game that hard locks the OS.

Hey guys, looks like new ATI drivers are availible, v10.4...
Though it looks like some are having problems. Acording to this post... it looks like the problems aren't really related, you never know though.
I'm going to try and re-enable crossfire with the new drivers, ill post my findings.
