I decided years ago when I started eve that I would need to first max out all my learning skills and implants so that all other skills would train as fast as possible thereafter.
I then decided I would need a good way to make lots of money quickly and mistakenly I went after a mining profession. It turns out that L4 missions pay way better than mining and are far less boring.
Personally I believe CCP should release a higher end mining marauder that has orca like storage capacity and like 8 strip mining slots, that would make mining a bit more fun.
My mining yield is absolutely max, my orca storage capacity is also maxed. I consider myself a max level miner.
I am soon to be a decent level Golem pilot, for L4 missions. I plan on maxing out my DPS and shield skills and implants and equipment but after that, then what?
I will have a good source of income for L4 Missions but what comes after that? I don't want to build stuff, what else is there that is fun to do in this game?

…it would also make you earn a lot less from mining. Is that really what you want? ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Go out an kill people. Scan down high sec combat/hacking/archaeology sites. Join a corp that operates out of wormhole space. Research/invent blueprints. Train a Dread and go blow up POSes. There is really tons more to do than mine ore and do missions.

I have thought about pvp, but I am told that ships like carriers and dreadnoughts are even more vulnerable in 0.0 alone as they are prime targets. I prefer playing solo.

I don't see how it would make you earn less, less isk per cm3 of minerals yes but if you could mine quicker and have a larger storage capacity than 99.99% of all the other players it would compensate and you would earn more for your time I would think.
IMHO ISK/HR for a max level miner should exceed that that a max level mission runner.

The problem is that you wouldn't mine quicker than most players – you'd just further supersaturate the market at the same pace as they do and drive the price down faster than ever before. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Obviously the answer is to remove the ship tier system and increase the build costs on *ALL* T1 ships by 150%. :)

I've been a carebear for four years. Missions, mining, exploration.....
Got bored of it. Realised that accumulating ISK is NOT the goal of this game. Joined a 0.0 corp. Having more fun than ever before blowing stuff up. I only make so much ISK that I can replace whatever ships are not covered by my corps ship replacement program. Fun times. You should try it.

You wouldn't mine quicker and have more space than most other players because everyone would just push for that new ship and then entire process would take a step up with everyone earling less as the supply far outways the demand.
The only sensible way is for you to go pvp like crazy so that the ship demand goes up then you can make lots of money selling stuff to people.
I'd suggest ammo/ships/mods up north atm ;) --

The whole group thing never worked out so much for me, It's either they are not online when you need them for a group, or they are useless and warp out at the worst possible moment and leave you hanging, or they demand you play so many hours per week or at certain times or do whatever it is they want to do while your online. I hate depending on others, and I hate others depending on me. I just wanna fly around in 0.0 and shoot npc's and maybe mine rare ores, and be be able to defend myself with an uber pwn boat which evidently doesn't exist.

Hey. I think you should try pvping in frigates before jumping into force recons, let alone dreadnaughts and carriers.
also, creating new highend mining ships changes nothing for the max skill pilots and INCREDIBLY deprives the low level miners (e.g noobies)

The best thing for mining would be for CONCORD to ban barges and exhumers from highsec for environmental reasons.
Well, perhaps just the Exhumer class and the Covetor. The others are outminable with a battleship. - Paknac Queltel
