I think the world would benefit from more common sense. As a european I'd like to get a lingua franca for europe, preferably english because it is in my opinion the current lingua franca of science. At least for the newer branches.
TED talks demonstrates that there is a demand for new ideas on a multitude of subjects. We need to hear those ideas. The world is changing at a pace hardly ever seen before (outside of violent but sometimes beneficial revolutions). We need to guide this change according to universally acceptable principles. Those principles shouldn't be the lowest common ground between traditional beliefs. The "moral questions" video explains very well what we'd need to consider.
Our current problem on this planet is not that there's no one shaping the world. The world is being shaped. Each of us is contributing to what the world will look like in the future.
But I digress, lol.
I love eve for what we can learn from it. Thanks for opening this thread.
