Here's a little description on my laptop:
Dell 300m 1.2 Ghz 384 Ram Video card- no idea but made in 2003/2004ish Plenty of space Wireless internet only
I was thinking of opening up a second account that would be trial initially (since a trial and my regular paying account can't be open on my desktop, right?). So will this piece of crap laptop handle EVE? What's the best way to open a 2nd account that's trial first and eventually paying later? I see there's some type of $9.95 special going on?
I was also thinking about taking advantage of another buddy invite (the ones where they offer millions of ISK to sign on) using the same Paypal/email as I used for my first one. Is this ok to do and possible? Or should I use another email address?
Also, can I just copy the entire folder from desktop to laptop, instead of downloading the whole thing for 4+ hours onto laptop?
Thanks,

I hope you only plan to mine, etc...
I wouldn't want to PVP on that thing.

That's the plan, and only during the trial period since I hear it's not possible to run two instances of EVE on the same machine if one of them is a trial.
The desktop is a monster. Should be able to run several instances, but I'm only planning two for the long term. Just need the laptop short term.

put graphic settings to minimum, small scale pvp is ok, however large scale pvp is the suck. I am playing on a 4 year old HP laptop thingy with an nvidia card. Will be getting a new one soonÖ though as the laptop is sitting firmly in the 'you want me to do what nofukkinway' area at the moment.

Edited by: CCP Adida on 30/03/2010 17:05:40 Comparing your laptop to the system requirements it may not run smoothly.
You can find the minimum and recommended system specs HERE.
EDIT: I'm sorry I forgot to include this. If it doesn't meet minimum specs EVE technical support will not be able to assist with this machine.
I'm not saying that it won't run and it doesn't hurt to try it. But if you do run into problems it isn't supported.

Yes, that will run Eve. Or maybe it won't.

With only 384megs of ram your going to be pushing it, will it run eve? Possibly yes. But you're going to be maxing out CPU and Ram usage to the limit which will cause your laptop to run hot, very hot and possibly shut down imtermittently. My opinion, don't bother unless you plan on getting more ram in that thing, but even then if your laptop is that old a ram upgrade will run you 100-150 bucks just for 512mb's or so.
Best to go to best buy or whatever major electronics store is in your area and pick up a cheapo 350-400 dollar laptop that has a graphics oriented motherboard. I personally like the AMD with Radeon onboards for cheapo's. I'm able to run eve with 5-15fps (Depending where I am) on my 2.2ghz AMD Athlon x2 dual core with a Radeon x1250 onboard graphics and 2gb of ram. Just so you can compare.

Lies and slander.
However, prefix "Laptop" with "2003-4" and you may be onto something.
EDIT: Also, I've been playing recently on an Acer 5536 with an HD3200, and I'm usually pulling a good 40+ fps with decent graphics settings (Though no HDR)

That laptop seems to use an Intel Extreme 2 Graphics chip which doesn't support shader model 2.
Sorry, no EVE for you on that one.

Just simply install EVE on it and see how it goes when you start the game.

I figured that was implied with the OP's ancient laptop specs (Yes those specs are ancient in my eyes) and for any laptop running on a integrated chip. PRAISE THE SCOTTISH FOLD!!

on laptops ive found that the graphics is far far more important than chip/mem combo.
a mobile 135m nvidia graphics chip on the dells is enough to run eve at very basic settings but still decent to play.

I used to run EVE on a $300 Dell Laptop that is now about 4 years old. I had to turn down all the settings to maximize performance, but it was tolerable.
