112-03-24 I-RED Forward Operations Command Ishukone Watch Logistic Support Oipo II Moon 19
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Twenty-four hours ago the executor of the Ishukone-Raata Enforcement Directive, Taisho John Revenent, was dispatched by I-RED High Command to border systems in The Bleak Lands to meet with an as-yet unidentified but well-known operator in the slave trade. Operating through back-channel contacts in a minor royal house of the Amarr Empire, I-RED had indentified sources that have led us to opening negotiations with some of the less-reputable "businessmen" operating on the fringe of Imperial legal jurisdiction.
Our last received communications originated from the Saikamon system, confirming that Taisho Revenent had arrived at his target system, and was preparing to negotiate for the release of some 3,400 slaves. As per the Directive's long-standing policy of working peacefully to free slaves, Ishuk-Raata transport ships were to be dispatched to ferry released slaves back to their home space and returned to freedom.
As of the time of this dispatch, Iskukone-Raata High Command has not received any further communication from Taisho Revenent, including several scheduled check-ins that he has missed. As this was to be a face-to-face meeting, our executor would likely have been out of his pod shortly after docking, and thus disconnected from the clone beacon network that would transfer his consciousness upon death. We are consequently deeply concerned for his safety, and are hereby publicly asking for any information regarding his whereabouts.
Ishukone-Raata covert teams have been dispatched to his last known location, and I-RED High Command is launching a full investigation into the matter. It is too early for us to draw any conclusions regarding Taisho Revenent's current situation, and we thus also ask for allies to assist only by providing information. While we are deeply concerned for our Executor's safety, we do not want to antagonize needlessly those with whom we have contacts within the slave-trade underworld, as the freedom of many slaves depends on maintaining open negotiations. Groundless accusations at this point will only hinder our inquiry.
I therefore ask on I-RED's behalf for any pilots able to provide information to contact myself, or I-RED's diplomatic corps. I shall be acting as Ishuk-Raata Executor in his absence, and can forward information to the proper channels.
Thank You,
Elassus Herron Chusa - I-RED Industrial Director Acting Taisho - I-RED High Command

Mr. Herron,
IÆm very distressed to hear this.
There is an Ishukone station here in Kuomi. Our facilities will remain on alert and at your disposal. We will also send a ship into the area today to assist with any rescue/recovery operations.
You and your people are in our prayers.

I, for one, am not at all concerned for Revenent-haan. In any competition or conflict that may occur, it is my ethical belief that the more virtuous and meritorious individual shall succeed. It is therefore my firm belief that a man of his affluence and accomplishment is fully capable of conducting himself and succeeding as he has in the past.

How do you figure?
If I have better skill at reading a situation and predicting danger than do you, then I am less likely to find myself in a situation where I need to dodge bullets than are you. Is that not a measurement of personal merit?
If you are physically or mentally endowed with greater alacrity and/or perception than am I, then you are more likely to successfully dodge bullets than am I. Is that also not a measurement of personal merit?
I maintain that the incident in question, if there is any incident at all, {has been/is being/will be} decided in the favor of the more meritorious party.
I have faith that Revenent-haan is that party.

Edited by: Andreus LeHane on 25/03/2010 19:27:10 While the statement you make is... broadly true, take in mind that while "merit" can go far, it is a finite thing (despite what some people would have you believe) and there are considerations one must apply to any situation in which it is expressed - chance, initial circumstances, foreknowledge, etc. One should also consider that merit is not a universal currency - one can be very meritorious in finance and management and yet not have the first clue how to survive a fistfight, as more than a few bosses who have pushed their employees slightly too far have discovered to their cost.
And if, for instance, a roomfull of men with guns take a single unarmed man by surprise, there is only so much he, no matter how meritorious, can do. -----

I would agree with this sentiment.
I have spoken with Revenent-Haan and found him quite admirable. If there is anything I personally can do, please let me know.
And of course if this for any reason reaches Kingdom space then you have the support of the Vanguard. We stand by our Caldari allies, particularily those who have proven such good friends with Amarr before.

I want to extend my gratitude to all those who have offered their support and assistance in these difficult times. Our scout ships have arrived in Saikamon, and I can provide updates as to the status of our search.
Our scanning teams located the beacons for Taisho Revenent's ship, and we have now retrieved it from the Carthum Factory station docking hangars (scanning was necessary, as Taisho Revenent's arrival was not logged by station control).
I regret that I must confirm initial fears: the ship is missing its pod; is receiving no control signals from said pod; and shows signs of external damage to its comm systems, propulsion, and other components. Damage is extensive, and would have rendered the ship incapable of undocking. Internal comms logs have been partially destroyed, and only the last few transmissions - containing rudimentary docking instructions - were recoverable.
Most troubling of all, initial analysis of the damage to Taisho Revenent's ship indicates laser fire, from weapons of the sort not available on the civilian market.
From this, I can only conclude that Taisho Revenent was lured into an ambush, that his ship was incapacitated by military or mercenary elements with access to advanced Amarr weapons, and - as his pod was, in fact, inactive - that he is now beyond our reach.
These are preliminary conclusions, with very incomplete information, but I am now forced to turn our investigation towards elements of the Amarr underground as a probably perpetrator of this despicable act. I ask for your continued support of the Ishukone-Raata Enforcement Directive: as we pursue answers, and the safe return of our Executor.
Thank you,

A high-ranking Ishukone executive goes missing on the same day that the head of the Theology Council gets killed in an act of terrorism.
I'm not the type to go looking for conspiracies, but this is starting to look a bit too coincidental.
Using lasers seems like an almost transparent effort to point people in the wrong direction. Which group or groups would be willing to make terrorist attacks against both the Empire and the State and in particular, the Theology Council and Ishukone? Who would benefit most? Follow the money, catch the perp.
As always, we offer our support.

Since our last post, our security analysts have continued to provide us information regarding the apparent attack on our Executor's ship, and abduction of his person.
Given the residual evidence of advanced laser weaponry involved in the attack, our analysts have informed us that the most likely source of the attack was an elite group of mercenaries with access to high-grade military weaponry. As such a group would likely be operating with some form of support within the Empire, we must consult our security interests regarding our current tactical posture.
With that in mind, we have concluded that our occupancy of the 4B-NQN system represents a continuing security vulnerability, as it extends our forces beyond normal State jurisdiction; exposes us to potentially hostile interests within Imperial auspices; and potentially impedes our investigation into Taisho Revenent's disappearance.
We have therefore transferred occupancy under the terms of our development-rights contract for the 4B-NQN system to Fidelis Constans (FCON) under undisclosed terms. We remain on friendly terms with the various Holders of CVA-controlled space in Providence, and wish to remain cordial in our relations.
I shall be providing more details as we receive them regarding the state of our investigation.

Thank you for the tip. However, given that your past contributions to I-RED comprise griefing our mining operations, attempting to sabotage our standings through infiltration, and smack-talking in Shintaht local, I think we'll wait for a more credible source of intel. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lai Dai Infinity Systems has been asked to conduct an independent analysis of the Taisho RevenentÆs damaged shuttle. Initial examination of the damaged shuttle did seem to indicate laser damage. However a more in-depth metallurgic analysis of the damaged superstructure suggests the actual weapon used to be a dense plasma focus charged particle beam, more commonly referred to as an electron blaster.
A particle beam weapon uses an accelerated stream of charged particles such as electrons and then focus and directs the beam using electromagnetic fields into burst of super hot, super dense plasma. This particle beam would deliver energy with a great deal of increased penetration compared to a laser, and leave thus leave blast pattern that is distinctly different than that of a laser.
It is possible, by lowering particle density of the round and manipulating the magnetic stabilizing field of the beam to create a blast pattern similar to a laser weapon. However, ions are constantly impinging on surfaces exposed to plasma, giving rise to a net positive charge to the surface. This is a much more difficult thing to mask, and it was this sort of characteristic positive charge in the superstructure of the TaishoÆs shuttle that lead our team to conclude that his assailants were welding æblasterÆ type weaponry.
We at Lai Dai Infinity Systems give prayers to our ancestors that our findings will help lead to the quick rescue of Revenent-haan.
Respectfully, Sakuma Ogunuchi Lai Dai Infinity Systems.

This is, obviously, disturbing news. As a cursory look at a map will show, we have already taken steps to distance ourselves from Amarr influence. These steps seem to have been ill-advised.
I am honestly not sure why our own analysts missed such an obvious discrepancy in the data.
I am further convinced that this was subterfuge by the following turn of events. Early last night, I-RED comm relays received a very brief signal from Taisho Revenent's pod, connecting him to Ishukone data channels for less than a second. Tracing the signal back across comm relays, Ishukone-Raata recon teams encountered an unmarked battlecruiser. Our teams were engaged, but managed to force the hostile vessel to withdraw.
Reinforcements arriving late in the engagement chased the battlecruiser to the Placid region, where the ship evaded our pilots and disappeared. We are now moving our combat teams towards the Placid region to conduct a more thorough search.
This raises a number of disturbing questions about the integrity of I-RED's internal security, and I am gravely concerned that high command - myself included - has been fed false information regarding Taisho Revenent's disappearance; that we have subsequently been distanced from alliances with whom we have enjoyed friendly relations for years; that our internal analysts either missed or withheld obvious evidence that would have contravened these actions; and that our forces were engaged and subsequently evaded by a hostile vessel.
My one encouragement in these troubling developments is that Taisho Revenent has been able to reconnect to a pod long enough to get a signal back to I-RED high command, indicating that he is still alive. I sincerely hope that we will be able to mount a rescue operation soon.
We thank Ogunuchi-haan and all our allies at LDIS, for the generous assistance they have provided in verifying - or rather falsifying - our initial results.
Sincerely,
Elassus Herron Chusa - I-RED Industrial Director Acting Taisho - I-RED High Command

[Datastream decryption protocols verified. Transmission begins] Due to the sensitive nature of the intelligence I have recently gathered, I am posting my findings across open channels.
I was tasked with tracing anomalous fund trasfers originating from within I-RED high command, as referenced here. Transmissions related to those transactions have been originating from a mobile relay built into a battlecruiser Hull. I have been tailing this vessel for some time, and recently encountered the ship itself. The circumstances of that encounter are what I find particularly troubling, as the ship in question was being pursued by I-RED reconnaisance teams.
I am transmitting this information across open channels because the signals originating from this vessel carry signatures identifying them as belonging to Akira Revan, my current CEO.
I have tailed Revan-haani's ship to a station she has clearly been using as a secondary base, and am transmitting its location on a sub-channel attached to this message. I shall be withdrawn to a safe spot for the time being to guard against any potential countermeasures.
I pray that this intelligence leads to the safe return of Taisho Revenent.

The interrogation of Akira Revan revealed the location of John Revenant's physical body, and we have successfully dispatched a recovery team to the Chardalane system, where he was being kept in a small outpost hangar in deadspace. I am pleased to say that we have recovered Taisho Revenant, though he has been unconscious for the last 18 hours; he has been convalescing aboard an Ishukone-Raata medical cruiser.
Revan-haani's clone did not survive the interrogation process.
Our medical team expects Taisho Revenant to make a full recovery, and to be fit to resume his duties in short order.
I wish to extend my sincere thanks to all of our friends and allies - and even some of our opponents - who have offered us support and assistance in locating our Executor. While I have done my best to carry the weight of this alliance in his absence, I am nowhere near adequate to the task, and am grateful to return control of the alliance to Taisho Revenant.
