Lost a sigil today, maybe 5 mil ISK value hanger dump stuff. No big deal (most the BP were copies). Been playing EVE mostly solo for years. So many things keep getting Nerfed, Buffed, and Changed. I can only guess the answer to the following Questions:
1) How does a -10.0 char pop me in a 0.5 system ? in a Typhoon no less. (I not saying it is wrong or suggesting a change - I'm just wondering where we are at and how the trick is done as we're told -10.0's are not allowed in High Sec.) My guess: mate or alt abandons Typhoon for -10.0 pod-pilot to board, he quickly targets, shoots, and pops me before Concordoken ?? The system Uedama (0.5) is connected to Kubinen (0.4) but my AFK route did not pass that gate. He could not has survived entry into Uedama in a Typhoon, could he ? He had to use a dropped ship, right ? Are peeps dropping these at safe points away from Corcord and then warping to fleet mates spotting the gates or stations ?
2) If it is possible for such a low char to man a BS long enough to pop a small industrial ... Is it also posible for him to eject before the Typhoon is Concordoken ?? or are pirates 100% sure to lose ship to Concord ?
I had to taunt in local (got no reply) that what was left for loot (a destroyer and a few T-1 fittings) was not worth thier fittings but ...
3) How would I know if he got popped by Concord ?? Would I have to see their wreck - because there is no remark I should expect to see in any Log ?? The log I copied shows Concord Police Captain is tring to warp scramble him eight (8) times - then my ship stops (pop). After that I hung about 15sec looking at the mess of ships and stuff, too busy to do a better examination, I was headed for tennis anyway.
4) Is CCP happy with the current state of suicide ganking game mechs as they allow some ganking but at a fairly high and sure cost to the pirates ? Or are we in the midst of a new trick and boom in ganking from some recent patch soon to be nerfed? The last I remember reading about such was when one of the new mega mining ships with a ship-bay was introduced and it was used to drop ships with Neg Std. pilots into high Empire ... but that was nerfed a long time ago, right ?
Sorry if I'm in the wrong forum area, move or point me to the correct area of discussion if needed. - Thanks

Yes.

100% certain to lose their ships.

Because of game mechanics, but if you don't trust those, you could go look at the wreck, or even stay around in your pod for long enough for you to see him pop.

I doubt CCP is going to change their view on suicide ganking after all these years. It's not like suicide ganking is some rampant phenomenon making high-sec as unsafe as low- or nul-sec. As far as I can tell, the amount of suicide ganking has been more or less stable for years.

Orcas have ship maint arrays which PieWrats have been using to get ships into hisec. They can then come in pods and pick up a ship. Someone else dropping off ships also works.
Suicide Ganking MIGHT get a bit harder after the insurance nerf. Others think that prices on ships will fall as a result of the insurance nerf, so it will actually be cheaper to suicide gank. CCP won't stop it completely, but there will be a certain amount of balancing if it is seen to get out of hand.
And yeah, the guy was a noob for using a BS.

as someone said, 100% sure to lose their ship, its a bannable offence to circumvent concord.
If in doubt just stick around and see him pop, if you DONT see him pop petition him for exploits and laugh.
If you see a concord ship scrambling him then he is already dead, every concord ship has an infinite point afaik + they all jam you with 100% effectiveness

cool story - if you do something aggressive to him, you also score yourself a killmail. Doesnt have to do damage, because if your the only player on the kill, you always get the mail.
Sensor damp, TD, scram, ecm.. anything. Yay killmails :D

Thanks all, especially Ba'Rumph
Wikis, not only overkill but for what I dropped it was premature. Maybe he saw BP in a can and creamed, but they were mostly frigate BPC's I've been dropping in noob ships as gifts. And from what little I know books and BP rarely survive ganks ?
Further review of the lost items may make it like 15 mil because of the T-II Ex Cargoholds and some tractor beams. But after so many years in EVE it is sort of refreashing, it will put some tension back into my choice to AFK haul while messing around the apartment :)
To all the noobs reading this: don't panic - these things are rare for small craft full of crap. But avoid putting all your good stuff in something and going AFK through central Empire.
Played tennis with my WoW playing friend who left EVE years ago, he thinks STO is cool too. Nuts. Peeps have maxed out the simple PvE content in STO these first weeks and there's no death penaty either. No way I can feel that. It's just so empty.
I think the current S-G mechs are just fine. My salute to all you Yarrr boz out there ;)

oh - Question:
It's against the rules to drop the full Kill-Info in these posts, right ?
Or is it okay in certain channels ? just not General Discussion ?
Thanks

I'm willig to accept suicide ganking as a part of the game mechanics, but I still hope for a change in regulations that people with an extremely low standing could not even enter high-sec in a POD or find themselves immediately punished by Concord as soon as they switch to an other ship.
Some time ago I was accidentially activating my lasers on a 3rd party wreck instead of my salvager. I was surprised that my ship was blown up by concord before I realized the mistake and shut them off. For me this is a proof that they can react within seconds. Actually no player with -10 standing should be able to switch from a POD into a ship and attack someone else. He should be blown up before he fired the first shot.

CONCORD isn't even in on the hunt as it is right now – to go from there to where they'd start to pod people (a level of punishment only other players have been allowed to dish out so far) is a ve-e-ery far stretch.
The protection is already there: you're allowed to kill them without repercussion. Blame your fellow high-secers for being too lazy to keep the baddies out. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

With the current mineral prices it's easy to build a battleship for less than the platinum insurance payment. Starting with a base profit he wouldn't have to get much loot to offset the fitting cost and make even more profit. The only drawback from doing this is the secirity loss, probably why it's not more common.

One thing that HAS NOT been nerfed/buffed/changed over the years you have been playing is the necessity to fly the correct choice of ship for the task, fit correct modules for the task, and remain sat at the keyboard whilst playing for maximum security.
The above make you 99.99% safe from suicide gankers

They can warp off to a safespot if they are aligned when ganking and CONCORD doesn't show up immediately. They will get popped at the safespot though. It's to keep jackals from salvaging (and looting) the suicide ship wreck. --------

"we're told"? Whoever told you that lied. Outlaws are just shot by the faction police in highsec, which is very escapable and pretty tankable anyway.

That's a possibility but he could have come from lowsec in it or just undocked in it (trivial with an insta).
The faction police will more often than not web people before they need to catch before they scram them, actually sending them in warp faster. And even when they scram it's not many points, so a few stabs will sort you out. You can travel in highsec as an outlaw pretty easily, the danger mostly comes from any player at a gate you'd cross that would tackle you and would have the police dps and nber webs on his side.

Inertia Stabilizer. Who told you high sec was safe?
Originally by: Gear Vii'X 2) If it is possible for such a low char to man a BS long enough to pop a small industrial ...
Less than 3 weeks if you don't fit a tank like you're supposed to.

He can eject. Concord will kill the empty Typhoon.

See them do it.

Insurance might be dropped for CONCORD kills. This will not stop ganking.

OP said the ganker was -10. Please either learn to read, or learn how to gank with -10 inside high sec.

What happens if someone scoops a suicide ship to a maintenance array before concord pops it? (obviously can't do it with a BS and orca). Or is it not possible to do?
I've been curious about that.

I've been curious about that.
And as the legions of Concord were denied, they let out a great howl that reached up into the very heavens. And then did the Great GM wax supreme in his wrath. With a thunderous roar he did descend upon the player like an avenging angel borne on wings of fury. He smote about him with his mighty ban stick until naught remained save those that knelt meekly before the might of Concord. Thus shall it ever be from the first, to the last, and until the end of time.
