WARNING: Stupid American Compensating For Small Penor ITT
Ok now that I have that out of the way, There was a gunshow recently in PA (This past Saturday @ the Farmshow Complex for those interested). I picked up a few new toys to try out at the range. Incoming pics of poor grouping and beat up 1911s :D
Starting off with a Henry US Survival AR-7 I picked up for 230$ NIB. Lovely little rifle, uses peep sights and completely disassembles and fits into a compartment in the buttstock.
Teh Bawx All folded up in the buttstock, tiny thing. less than 3lbs loaded Fully assembled, less than 2 feet long, nicely balanced.

Next up is a Spanish 1911 I picked up for about 200$ (almost questionably cheap). It is surprisingly accurate for the rough shape it is in. The rifling is strong and the bore is bright. It has some pretty bad wear marks on the slide lock and the safety. No grip safety like most 1911s. I won't post the range shots of my poor grouping because I used cheap factory reload ammo and tbh I suck with it.
Star 1911 Model PD: Worn Grips Blueing is worn but good mechanical condition Slide back, barrel is in very good condition for the amount of use it has seen

Now for the useless unnecessary **** I picked up for cheap for the luls. (inb4 guns are useless unnecessary **** :p)
Armor Piercing Incendiary rounds (7.62x54r)
YAY GRENADE LOL
The 7.62 is for the Mosin Nagant I picked up that I'm not posting until my real camera is back. The thing is gorgeous, unissued 1927 Tula Arsenal 91/30 Hex Reciever.
Accuracy at 100yards for the AR7 with varying Ammo. (Do not buy aguila ammo, **** is garbage, also AR7s like High Velocity .22lr)
Funny story about the big hole in the far side
We were about halfway done with our range time, and a couple of gangster-ish black dudes come up with 3 glocks (2 9mm and 1 40sw) and a pistol grip pump shotgun (mossberg). Not a single one had eye or hearing protection, and not a single one could hit the broadside of a barn. But they were good sports and commented "Thats a nice little sniper rifle." about the AR7.

Because I know nothing about gun laws overseas, where are you from and what are the gun laws there? Also, can you import a weapon from the US legally then possess it?

If I recall correctly, US law prohibits importation of firearms unless the company has a US subsidiary. IE ImaginaryGunCo has a company it owns called USImaginaryArmsCo and it has factories for production on US soil.

I think she meant import as in import back to where the buyer came from, as in export to be more precise, which in %99 of circumstances would be illegal I assume.

Can someone please explain to me why on earth it is legal for a civilian to purchase armor piercing incendiary rounds? I can buy into the "I need guns for my protection" line, but what the hell? Do people regularly invade your home inside flammable tanks?

A lion isn't happy when it gets a kill? What about those that just shoot targets or clay pucks for sport?
Also, proof other animals have fun killing, all we need is to look at our humble Orca.

I'd like someone to give me an honest opinion: If the people ever decided the government has become too corrupt and attempted to rise up against it, who do you think would win? I'll give you my opinion first: It ain't gonna be us, not by a long shot. If the military stands behind the government each and every one of you are screwed. > WHILE SIG<AWESOME DO LOOP there is no escape from my crappy sig. |

It was novelty. I will never use them, considering they are probably 30 years old.

Where did I say I hunted? Who in their right mind would hunt with a 1911 or a .22? You seem to be more of a sheep than anyone with a gun atm.

Yeah we'd be boned, I realize the 2nd amendment is supposed to cover the "for the use with a well regulated militia", but I got them for more of a novelty. No different than paintball or airsoft except people tend to frown if you shoot people with real guns hehe.

Not really. Progressives and other fascists in the US know that they can not count on the military to protect them from the people. Barak Obama himself proposed a solution to the military problem.

by the way, I have no idea what a 1911 or a .22 is besides a gun. And to me all guns are the same.....For the Weak Minded. Jesus, Gandhi, Martin L. King, just to name a few, never needed a Gun and they changed the World. No offense to you though, grats on your guns and hope you like them.

There weren't many guns around the time of Jesus Christ. And if you recall, Jesus' group carried swords around with them. They are many preachings by Jesus about self protection. Gandhi was never opposed to guns, check out his autobiography. He wanted India to have an armed military, of Indians, and wanted a cadre of trained men to use them. Do you understand that Martin Luther King Jr. was denied a gun permit, and as a result, gangs of armed men would guard his home?

That's *if* the military stands behind the government. You forget that people in the military are people as well, have their own opinions, and would most likely either refuse to carry out an order to kill fellow Americans or would resist/stall doing so for as long as possible.

That happened, but that would be under extremely different circumstances. In the Kent State incident, the Guardsmen were previously attacked by civilians through rocks and glass. Later on the Guardsmen, for some reason, fired indiscriminately in a direction of students at a distance farther than another group of students. They had no orders from their superiors to do so, and there was no reason for even doing it. If there ever was some uprising, the military would never be targeted, only government buildings. Any conflict would occur between locals and police forces that might attempt to restore civil order. The police would be far less concerned about a group of people trying to "capture" a capital building, whom they know are not there to loot and plunder, that they would with simultaneous riots on cities that would explode for the sake of rioting if such unrest ever occurred. The police would be setting roadblocks to protect themselves and other areas. The military would have to shoot first, and they are forbidden by law and their oaths to ever carry out such an order on any of US civilians not presenting them with any danger.

Honest question, no sarcasm intended, what do you foresee happening if, say, a local government under siege calls for Martial Law? I'm assuming that states national guard would be first on scene, but how would our uprising scenario play out at this time? > WHILE SIG<AWESOME DO LOOP there is no escape from my crappy sig. |

Its the Ohio National Guard, what do you want from them?!
In all seriousness
Quote:
Not all the soldiers who fired their weapons directed their fire into the students. Some soldiers fired into the ground, while a few fired into the air. In all, 29 of the 77 guardsmen claimed to have fired their weapons, using a final total of 67 bullets.
I am educating myself on this subject as I go while me and Ademaro discuss it. I love doing that, forming an opinion and then looking for facts to back it up, not unlike some media outlets here do. National Guard and Local Authorities / Local Governments take control of major routes and intersections. You have too many if's in this scenario. What if the National Guard was in favor of the government change? Now you get down to factions / underground factions much like of those in the Black and Tans.
History would repeat itself, you would have a large military force being pecked away by a small militia using guerrilla tactics. In some states such as Virginia, you can openly purchase a 37mm, or 40mm weapon mounted launchers which are 100% legal to purchase and own as a civvy and fill out the correct paper work. Put together the legality of weapons and laws in certain states on top of home made weaponry, not to mention the ease of converting certain mainstream weapon triggers into full auto as opposed to semi auto (SL8 -> G36 is a prime popular example) and you would quite literally have poo hitting the fan.
Don't forget that certain federal laws make fully automatic machine guns, pistols, and anti aircraft weaponry also available for civvy use if it was created before a certain year. There have been several 105mm anti-tank weapons on the market from WWII era collectors which are very much still able to fire.
Things wouldn't end well.
Thankfully, I don't see another civil war erupting.

Oh, I agree, if any part of the military takes civilian sides then we have a ballgame, but IMO it is crucial that our trained forces secure and protect key ammunition depots or you still have a major disadvantage. I used to transport ammunition for our live fire excercises, so I've been to the ammunition storage bunkers, its sick, just SICK how much ammo is in there. Ft Stewart GA alone could wage its own private war for several years with that supply. > WHILE SIG<AWESOME DO LOOP there is no escape from my crappy sig. |
