I have been doing this overview for the past year (since overview settings export are allowed) for the Finfleet Corporation / IT Alliance, but I decided to make it public to the community, so feel free to download and use as you see fit:
The Overview is divided the following way:
Mining (M): (Includes Minerals by this levels and hostiles) PVE - M - All PVE - M - HIGH PVE - M - MEDIUM PVE - M - LOW PVE - M - ICE
Ratting (R): (Includes Ratting by this levels and hostiles) PVE - R - PLEX (includes destructible turrets and structures) PVE - R - BELTS
Drones (D): (Includes either all non-fighters or all fighters) PVP - D - ALL PVP - D - FIGHT
Empire (E): (Will remove all neutrals, and set only @ war with targets) PVP - E - ALL
Friendly (F): (Will show only friendlies of the types specified) PVP - F - ALL PVP - F - CAPITALS PVP - F - BS PVP - F - DICTORS PVP - F - SUPPORT PVP - F - H.SUPPORT PVP - F - L.SUPPORT PVP - F - LOGISTICS
Hostile (H): (Will show only hostiles of the types specified) PVP - H - ALL PVP - H - CAPITALS PVP - H - BS PVP - H - BC PVP - H - CRUISERS PVP - H - FRIGATES PVP - H - DICTORS PVP - H - SUPPORT PVP - H - H.SUPPORT PVP - H - L.SUPPORT PVP - H - LOGISTICS PVP - H - NONE
POS (P): (Will show only player owned structures of the types specified) PVP - P - ALL PVP - P - EW PVP - P - EXTRAS PVP - P - GUNS PVP - P - RES
Wrecks (W): (this is still beeing worked on, I don't have it exactly as I need it) PVP - W - ALL PVP - W - HOSTILES PVP - W - NON-ALLIED
All overview settings also include: Sun Gates Stations Warp Gates Wormholes TCU Cyno Beacons
HOW TO INSTALL: 1. Download the latest version here 2. Unzip the file 3. Copy the file to your User -> Documents -> EVE -> Overview folder 4. If the "Overview" folder doesn't exist, create one: "Overview" (capital O) 5. In game go to Overview Settings on your overview window, and select the last option "Import Overview Settings" 6. Select the file you just copied and check all the "view options" 7. Press Import and voilß 8. Note: Every time you import a overview file, game will turn on "Show All Brackets" in all tabs, make sure you press the "Stop Showing all Brackets" when you select one of the new tabs (you only have to do this once per tab)
I will keep this overview settings updated as much as I can. If you think this might make your life a bit easier, any donations will be appreciated, enjoy :)

I also liked the leaked overview settings which were found on the BoB forums. Thank you for opening this up.
One suggestion, would it be a good idea to make some overview settings which work well as brackets only and some as regular overviews only.
For example is is sometimes useful to have drones on your brackets so you know who they are attacking, but having them in your overview would clutter things too much. Same for things like asteroid belts and moons.
Another useful overview setting I found is one with forcefields, control towers, jumpbridges and moons only. It's useful when trying to scan down a POS quickly.
Thanks again.

I have the same problem, and I keep using the ALT+Z and ALT+X shortcuts to show my drones in space, without flooding my Overview Window. But the problem here is that you cannot set a bracket view for every single filter you got, only for the 5 tabs displayed, so until CCP fix this little problem I am not sure how I can fix this in a single overview file.
About the POS scan, that is a very good suggestion, will add a POS - Scan on my next update. In the meanwhile I would suggest using what I do atm:
1 Tab : PVP - H - All (adding moons manually to it while scanning); 2 Tab : PVP - POS - All
Use the 1st Tab with moons to warp arround (as all my views show Control Towers by default), and the 2nd Tab to see the actual full setup of the POS.

I guess I was just suggesting making a few overview filters which are designed to be used as the filters for the brackets for each of the tabs. Could tailor them to high/low lag environments etc.

got it :) Will add a new category called Filter to use for Brackets only. You will still be able to use the ones atm or use this "Filter" types as brackets

Curious how you and or others have their overview colors and backgrounds setup. Any chance of a screen cap of those two tabs? |

Export them once and look where it place them. Then place your own settings in the same folder and... import. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

I'm guessing you're not actually on a Mac.
Exporting overview settings on my Mac, EVE tells me they're in P:\My Documents\EVE\Overview\export.test.xml
That, of course, is a Windows file path. There's no such place on my Mac. I suspect it's a pseudo directory somewhere inside the EVE application package, but I can't find it.

Well that is the correct place, you just need to know how to get to the P drive on the mac. ~/Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences/p_drive/
So, fullpath: /Users/YOURLOGINNAME/Library/Preferences/EVE\ Online\ Preferences/p_drive/My\ Documents/EVE/Overview/ -- I often heard the Sky's the limit, sadly I'm broke fairly often. |

Red Background for the Empire War Targets
You can set these on priority order so: war target (any) blinky red in ov Red is obviously with red background. Corp members are the usual green Dark blue for alliance/ [+10] standings
For neural everything is neutral (so colors, backgrounds or anything just a name and a ship type). If NRDS by some twist of fate get revived I might have to redo the backgrounds for what they used to be.

Trust me, I can relate. I have sold so many characters through the years (fifty to sixty) that I can usually run across at least one a week.
