Did anyone (attempt to) convince you that pi day is in March? Besides the usually date format argument, here's a very good reason why pi day is not in March. In short, don't celebrate the fake pi day.

I clicked this link expecting to see a bunch of anti-American-date-format flaming.
.. but this is actually pretty clever.

Doesn't seem that clever to me, tbh. All they've done is tried to meaningfully associate pi to a certain date/time in an arbitrary fashion. Which is a contradiction - how can an association be meaningful if it is done so arbitrarily? Why should pi day be when the earth has covered 1/π (roughly 31.8%) of it's orbit? Why not π/100 (or π%)? Why not when the arc drawn by the Earth is π radians? Why not some other relatively arbitrary number which is somehow related to pi? In fact, that website even highlights this very same problem! They can't decide WHEN pi day should be instead of 3/14!
3/14 makes sense to Americans and those who utilize a middle endian date format. That is the day when the date resembles pi. So why not let them have pi day on that day, and those who use a little endian date format can use 22/7 for pi approximation day as that website mentions?
If you accept that website as being true, then you must also forsake holidays similar to pi day, such as mole day, when the date is a palindrome, etc etc...
Therefore my opinion is that website isn't being clever or cute - it's just being annoying. ----------

I celebrate Pi day on March, 24. Why limit yourself to decimal! Hex is so much better. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Or you know, we could just not care about it and ignore it like 99.99% (probably more) of the worlds population, along with everything else that idiots try to force on society, nobody really cares about World Aids day, or women's day, or cancer month, or any of that crap. Ordinary people in the West have to work, people in less fortunate regions have to go on surviving, but no, someone wants to point out its "Don't tread on an ant week" or some crap. ## You got that? Right I'll be back in approximately 300 seconds to retort! ## |

My college algebra teacher said they were giving away free pie on pi day... then we got onto the value of e and he asked why there wasn't an e day so my smartass piped up "Because a lot of people would OD"
