I've been thinking alot about the whole Incarna/Dust 514 expansions that are on their way. Just an idea and a reason to have Dust 514 on the pc. For anyone who has seen fanfest 2009 you got to see the demo of Dust 514, particulary the lobby for Dust 514. Here is my idea that incorporates Dust 514 and Incarna...and eve
Wouldn't it be cool to be flying around space in eve as normal, dock up and walk around the station. Now imagine seeing the different stores and bars as mentioned in previous fanfest as well as board rooms (For in avatar board meetings), but at this point in time Dust 514 is out. You walk into your war room (lobby as seen in 2009 fanfest for Dust 514) and from here you can coordinate your attacks or jump into FPS action on your ... you guessed it, your pc! This would incorporate EVE/Incarna & Dust 514 all in the same package, under one subscription where you and your eve corp/alliance m8's can team up and take over a planatery complex! If I was CCP this is something I would seriously think about...
So what do you think?
Thanks Flatiner

Edited by: Valentine Creir on 27/02/2010 06:01:48 Not to kill your dreams or anything but its not gonna be on the PC. They said they are specifically making it for console gamers, to involve a different kind of player into the eve universe. No matter how cool it may be for it to be on the PC

hmmm if only they joined that to the current game :(
it would definatly be the best game ever but they would need to do a hell of alot to the current eve so you can perfectly link the two games Dont touch me! |

I don't think so. The console vs. PC social strata are undeniable, and even players, like myself, who inhabit both worlds cannot deny the clear differences in atmosphere. I like the way they have it laid out, where PC EvE players are the bean-counting, micro-managing, resource-allocating masterminds and the console Dust 514 gamers are the ground-pounding, head-shotting, grenade-lobbing engines of devastation. I fully intend to fill both roles and enjoy both to some degree, but too much overlap between the two would lead to a breakdown in mood and social structure. Capsuleers are like supervillains, and the Dust commandoes are like, well, commandoes. Maybe on rare occasions one of them will be genuinely significant in an EvE empire's plans, but by and large they will be a commodity, a means to and end. Similarly, the FPS players of Dust will view the overarching politics and interests of EvE alliances as a barely-relevant framework, an excuse to do battle and a reward system for success.
I think it has the potential to be beautiful, and I'm eager to see the outcome of the experiment. ======================

So there's no PC FPS players at all? Guess I need to start uninstalling a lot of games... ---------------------------------------------------

No not like that I'm a Quake man myself but the trueth is alot of the online FPS players are mainly on console this days. I belive it has alot to do with the controls being more friendly to FPS games overall and easyer to use. Is it a rock? Point a Lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship? Point a Lazer at it and profit. I dont realy see any differnces here. |

WTF? Consoles-controls are good for a lot of games but there is no way they are better then pc while playing fps. Everytime i do play a console-fps i have to cry a lot because of the horrible controls.

Milk the console players for their money and make a PC version of Dust when they run off to the next game. --------

Mostly the reason one game is on PC only or Console only is because the codes to run the game are different.
So its a matter of money and resources you want to put in the development of the game. It will involve a complete new team of developers, some features will be available under one platform and not the other.
It may be time to updgrade my old Play Station and enslave my kids into Dust foot soldiers

They should definitely make it available for PC. The PC is an absolutely superior gaming platform compared to any console. I'll probably subscribe to dust if they make it available on PC but I'm certainly not going to go buy an xbox or PS just to play one game. CCP is shooting themselves in the foot if they go for console only. -----------------------------------------------------

CCP is just dipping their toes into the console market with Dust 514. Don't expect anything from it.

If you're a PC owner, CCP don't want you to play Dust, they want you to play EVE.

I beg your pardon, good sir. A super villain, I? I do declare. Would it be presumptuous of me to kindly ask you not to paint the entire capsuleering community with the same brush? Some of us, it must come as a shock to you, prefer to sail the honorable course of industry and enterprise instead of finding ways to steal from those we consider brethren [if, very likely, competitors] or acting like the ne'er-do-wells who can only validate their own existence by destroying that of others.
The idea of Dust514 playing on the PC will go precisely nowhere. There are very rigid business imperatives behind this kind of decision and that will not be changed on a whim. CCP has said it wanted a console game and that is what they will make for the very good reasons they stated. Do not count on a PC version. Certainly not any time soon.
Supervillains, my word. The very thought alone.

Personally I'd love FPS station combat, it would definitely put an end to station huggers. It would also be a way to permanently get rid of corps in lowsec rather than camping the station 23/7. In nullsec, you can boot them from a system by taking out their POS, in lowsec, you can't destroy a NPC station so you can never get rid of them.

What might be better is to make the Incarna, the actual walking in and around the stations and ships of EVE, more like DUST 514 in design. That way, there could be boarding party battles, station battles, etc. WHile not necessarily placing a foot on land itself, the EVE players who want to have DUST 514 on the PC could have this as a consolation.
Though personally, i would prefer to have DUST 514 on the computer as well. As I've experienced with Moder Warfare 2, TimeShift, BattleField, and the original Modern Warfare, they simply are so much more fun, not to mention easier to handle, than the consol counterparts.

Just because you are ****ty at console games does not mean CCP should cater to YOUR needs. They are going after the console players.
END OF FREAKING STORY PEOPLE!!!
So please stop with the "Super Duper Ultra Tear" threads about Dust being on console only threads.
