I've been in the gallente militia for just shy of 2 weeks. Finally find what looks like a fun little frigate fleet. I jump clone to the proper location, get in my rifter and undock.
My screen stayed completely black, apart from a new mail from the insurance folk flashing in the upper left. I can hear voice still and am informed that i'm just chilling in a pod. Loooovely.
I relog, everything seems fine. Jump into my shiny new BC I built for some kind of FW fun. Station camping BS locks me down and in a manner of speaking, tells me with lasers that I should have stayed logged off. And takes my t2 lasers!
Welcome to eve pvp, right?

Make an 80's pop synth song about it. Call it "Mail from the front" and here are some terribad lyrics to go with your terribad whinge:
don't undock or you'll be mining a rock
because the bad men reaped your wallet again.
now your mails flashy
your game is kinda crashy
off to the forums
whinge a little bit
you got trolled and rolled son
now it makes you wanna quit

The first one is petitionable (assuming you haven't left any details out), as when you undock you have a brief period of invulnerability.
The second one, you either should've used an insta or stopped your ship and tried to redock. A single battleship shouldn't be able to kill a PvP fit BC before it can redock. _________ My name is Pater! |

There has been some pretty nasty lag over the last few days I have noticed so your first loss was just plain ole death by lag and petitionable(its just a rifter though so probably not the best use of a petition) but the second one may have been that you undocked from what is called a kick out station. That immediatly puts you out of docking range so by the time you slowed down and tried to reapproach he most likey had you webbed and scramed which will make even a couple of thousand meters out just too far to last under the close in dps of a bs. Chalk it up as a learning experiance and pick a better station or system to base out of.

It might be petitionable, but it wont lead anywhere. Lag never shows in the logs, ever.
Even if there are hundreds of petitions about lag in the system at the time you died, its not in the logs

Turn on session timer under general settings.
You have 30 second session timer to keep you safe from lag/loading.
When you undock you are invulnerable. After 30 seconds you become lockable. You can not dock (or jump back through a jump gate) within the first 30 seconds.
As soon as you move or activate modules you are counted as active and can be targeted regardless of session-timer. However you can't dock until the timer is done regardless of movement/modules.
When you attack things you are aggressed for 60 seconds before being able to jump/dock.

Dr. Battlesmith is correct, turrning on the session timer can be a life saver.
An "insta" or Instant Warp is a book marked location that is about 500-1000km straight out from the undocking port of a station. It takes 75% of your maximum speed to goto warp, when you are ejected from the docking port you are going well over your top speed. As soon as you launch from station you warp to your bookmark and if you have it set up correctly you will instantly goto warp.
It's a good way to avoid station camps.

its petitionable and u`ll get ur ship back if u die while undocking cause of blackscreen. happend to me 2 or 3 times since i play and i always got my ship plus items back (only those that got destroyed). just dont tell them its about lag. tell them it was a blackscreen while undocking, stay polite and everything is fine.

. . .
You are ALWAYS under the effect of the session-change timers. All the checkbox in General Settings does is puts a little icon in the upper-left of the screen if you're still in the middle of such a timer.
If you undock, hitting Ctrl+Space will stop your ship yet retain your undock-invulnerability. Any other action ends it.
