Right now I'm only at the level where I fly t1 frigates in PvP and cruiser/battlecruisers for missions. I'm not very experienced in PvP, but stealth bombers sound really really fun to me. I realize that they are pretty much worthless when it comes to pretty much anything other than cheap shots, but I still really like the idea.
Are there any pilots out there that fly a stealth bomber as their primary ship? I'm anxious to try one out and I'd like to think I could get good enough with one to use it primarily. Technically I'm only like 3 days training from flying one but they're still too expensive for me to fit and I know I'd just get blown up.
Another thing I've always wondered is, with a covops cloak, just how hard is it to evade detection?

<3 my Nemesis. My favorite ship, bar none. I don't get to use it much, though, because they're best in large groups with bombs and the works, against large ships. They're also a pretty penny to fly and fit.
If you know how to use them, with a CovOps cloak you're neigh impossible to catch. You have to learn tactics tough, like how to hit the MWD and then cloak, point-and-click, different fits, etc. Once you learn how to use them, though, they're a blast (literally!). It's always fun to out-DPS your mate who's flying a battleship with a little frigate

Depends on how narrowly you define specialize.
If you mean specialize by train nothing else, then I'd say no. You'd probably need at least a cruiser to be able to afford replacing it. Stealth bombers don't tend to fare well in PVE situations.
If you mean specialize by spending the vast majority of your training/flying time, then I'd say go for it!
Stealth Bombers are personally not my cup of tea, but in skilled hands they are powerful. For fun times fly into a 0.0 system with lots of mining going on, cloak up go afk in the knowledge that you just shut down mining for the entire system. If they still keep mining, remind them why they should'nt have, with your bomb launcher. Bomb + Hulk = 200million+ dead hardware.
and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Not a bad idea at all.
When I first entered PVP, my goal was stealth bombers. I ended up flying the Manticore stealth bomber exclusively for almost a year pirating in lowsec.
This was back in the day when SBs did not have covert cloaks and fired cruise missiles (can insta-pop any frig)instead of torpedoes.
One thing to keep in mind is that you cannot use the bomb launcher in high or lowsec, only in 0.0.
Covops cloaks are a god-send for bombers. It basically allows you to sneak up on people and there is no way they can see you unless you decloak or get accidentally decloaked by being too close to something. The best module EVER. ______________________________

I'd like to chime in here, as I have the same dilemma. I planned on helping supprort a bomber ''habit'' by ratting in a quiet area of 0.0. Anyone have any experience of this? Is it even worth attempting?

That guide answered a lot of my questions. I am kinda sad to see it knock the Nemesis, though, since that was my target bomber. The Hound is just ugly =(

Just because somebody somewhere doesn't like a ship, doesn't mean it is a bad ship or that you shouldn't train for it.
I personally like the Manticore, because it has 4 mids and is easy to fit (I also prefer the unpopular damp + painter combo). It also has a kinetic damage bonus, but it does its job well enough.
There isn't a huge difference between the bombers in my opinion.
Fly whatever you like, not whatever other people like.

Hah, ugly yes, but powerful! Hound is my favorite SB of the two I can fly (manticore being the second). Cov Ops..ops are fun, especially in a corp that has a Black Ops ship that can bridge a bomber fleet into an area that you and your mates can wreak havoc.

I've done this, and it worked out reasonably well. Just don't bother with anything smaller than a battlecruiser, and warp out as soon as anything targets you. Know what ships can scramble you, because I've lost more than a few bombers that way.

His ship evaluation is aimed mostly at his own tactic of using SBs but it is not a common way to pvp in them. Most common ways to use SBs in combat are either adding to DPS of your small roaming/camping gang, bombing runs on gate camps or fleets engaging one another, or blackops drops.
Nemesis is just more difficult to fit well: 4 mid slots for plenty of ewar modules but it is not generous in CPU, while ewar modules tend to be CPU-hungry. Manticore has same slot layout but 25 CPU units more with Electronics V. It is also not optimal for hunting targets ratting in Serpentis and Sansha/Blood 0.0 regions. Because these rats have thermal damage as their primary (serps) or secondary (sansha/bloods) damage types, locals tend to tank against it, while Nemesis gets racial bonus to thermal torpedoes and bombs. However if you were to hunt for targets in Angel space where primary damage type of rats is explosive/kinetic then both Hound and Manticore would be suboptimal for tanking ratters down quickly.
Most common use of stealth bombers in solo pvp is actually just lurking around 0.0 space, finding yourself a nice gate camp with targets you can pop, and waiting for an opportunity to bomb them. Position yourself for a bombing run, wait for them to engage something, then bomb them. At this point the interdictors and interceptors will usually activate their MWDs to commence tackling of the target passing through the gate, so their signature radius will blow up such that your bombs will do omgwtfbbq damage to them. A single bomb can then typically instantly kill the interdictors and wipe out several inties. For these kinds of runs all stealth bombers work out well, and since you are not very reliant on your ewar modules for these kinds of run the fact that Nemesis lacks CPU will not matter.

How? Both of them are fast enough to get out of the blast radius or can lock fast enough to actually kill the bomb before it goes off at all. A bubble doesn't follow the dictor, and an inty has point range longer than a bomb explosions radius, so there's very few reasons not to get out of the explosion, even if you manage to land the bomb right on top of the campers target.

Read above. They are occupied fighting something else. If you pre-align you will initiate warp before anything gets a chance to target you. There will be some latency between when you decloak and actually show on their overview. A few stabs on bomber will save you from several inties with extended point range. Not sure what you were trying to say about the bubble not following dictor.
