Cyno jump in with empty overview / brackets. Started taking minor fire before loading grid. Modules activated ok. Tank held for a while. Managed to align and warp out in 50% hull (WTF I didn't die?). Two hangs / crashes, but relogging actually fixed the module cycling problems.

Edited by: ZiggyMeister on 20/05/2010 22:05:23 Edited by: ZiggyMeister on 20/05/2010 22:03:01 Today's test : May 20 @ 20:00
Win 7 64 bits
Intel C2D E8400
Nvidia 7600GT 256MB GDDR3
4GB System RAM @ 667MHz
User Experience:
Audio enabled (connected to fleet audio, with some audio lag a couple of times)
Brackets turned OFF
Average FPS during the fleet fight test: 10fps but some times it hold up at 20fps, but then it would get back down to around 10fps (I was zoomed out as much as possible).
Didn't notice any desyncs, but I really don't know what that is!
Can't really be sure about TQ these days as I haven't been in fleet fights as of late, but I think maybe it was slightly better in SISI. I give it a 7 out of 10.
I was able to use my modules while experiencing some LAG in their activation, with weapons it took around 1 minute for them to fire a single round. The modules took almost 1 minute do deactivate after giving the order. On the test of both fleets jumping I got a 2min 30sec Traffic Control counter, that run almost to zero, and when I jumped I had to wait around 30 sec for the Grid to Load.

a. Trying to jump at beginning I got message "you will be warped in 2:33", but jumping was done about 30 seconds later b. I have normally 3 chars (3 logins) running at the same time. Today I could not get my 3rd Character to run due to memory / CPU overload use. Memory did go up to 2.5GB (starting swapping on harddisk...), CPU was at about 85-95%. I tied to reduce memory usage in properties, but did not help much instantly. Then I closed my 3rd char, and was playing with the other 2. Playing with 3 chars is working in Singulary, e.g. in Penirgman without problems (but normally I have not tried with 450 players on the same spot). c. POD Killing: Someone did PODKill me, but clone activation was delayed about 10 minutes (!!). I was still watching, but could not move / warp anymore. during that time POD re-established shield nearly to 100% again, then after 10 mins I was moved to my clone station. d. during game MSWindows breakdown picture was shown something like "CCP.EXE must be finished now. Send information to microsoft yes/no". I did not touch this and game was still working - funny. It was fun working for the test

Lagging while forming up was the same experience as TQ. The combat with modules active but not firing. Had a rof of approximately 4-5s and only fired 14 volleys during the test. After the test was completed and numbers dropped and performance improved but was still only launching 1 out 5 or 6 volleys.
It was possible to move around and warp in and out as needed (although lagged). Again this is a similar experience to TQ. IGNE obeythekitten is eve related content. Stop being so antagonistic. YGR drama best drama. |

Audio enabled? yes, including voice. Brackets turned on? no Average FPS during the test(s): mostly around 0-2 fps, even when zoomed all the way out. Desyncs: some actions took minutes to respond (guns, targeting, warp away in a pod (last one never worked, btw)) Performance: 1 (I haven't participated in TQ fleet battles, so can't compare directly)
Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.:
I managed to slightly damage the shields of one small ship, and eventually got locks on three other nearby ships. They got about three attack "rounds" on me, several minutes apart, finally blowing me up. First the wallet blinked, then the mail icon, then a couple of minutes later the ship was "out of control". Never felt like I had that much control over the ship since the actual fight started, anyway. "Outstanding calls" was hovering around 0-4 for the most of the fight, but after getting blown up, the number increased slowly past 6, ending at 10 when I finally gave up trying to warp away and just Quit.
Still, this was kinda fun. I'll try to join next time as well. :)

1.Test 2010-05-20 at 20:00 2.Xubuntu with Wine, using windows client 3.C2D E8500 4.Nvidia 9600gt 5.RAM 3.5GB
User Experience 1.Laggy all the way. On final jump to the battle spot my both accounts have frozen liek being stack between gates for 30-60secs. In battle ships were invincible and targets were invincible too. However drones reacted smoothly to controls. When all hostiles died my memory run out and my system got frozen. There were just drones and fleet's ships around when it happened.
2. No audio 3. Did you have brackets turned on? Do not remember. 4. Average FPS during the test(s) Interface wasn't much responsive. It was so lagged. I didn't even check. 5. Did you notice any desyncs during the test? All the time my turrets and launchers got stacked in finishing firing red colored loops. 6. This was the first time. Can't compare really :) 7 Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.
I wish... ...there was squad chat instead of fleet chat. Also hierarchical fleet display could highlight my place in the fleet so I could better close other wings' and squads' members listings. Also orders went from mass testing. They should go from fleet command, which was a bit fuzzy imho. I was getting capital targets to kill when flying hurricane fitted like drake, so it was a bit confusing for me. Also there should be some fit proposed by ccp for this combat like alliances use to have to easier make fleet formation.

Test: may. 20. 20:00 OS: Vista Ultimate 64bit CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 GPU: ATI 3870 RAM: 4GB
Channel audio was enabled, however even if im maxed sound settings, still some ppl have very quiet. Their voice was clear, but poorly heard them.
For the fight: i learned that bracket should be turned off, thats helped a lot, and zooming out also got some FPS boost(close camera:3-5FPS, far"wiev": 10-17FPS). Either lowering some effects or zooming out too far reduces the playing experience. At the start(gathering stage) close camera: with brackets on: 15-17FPS, w/o brackets: 20-26FPS average, depended on gate-, cyno jumps and unwanted aggression effects. Desyncs was mostly in the fight such as: newerending weapon cycling or "already dead" targeted enemies. Jumping through gates with that mass of players went much better, and faster than i expected. For that, and because i can actually "shoot something" - like was no "ghost shots" and ew moduls are landed well on every target(despite from that small desinc)- im giving this experience between 6-7 on the scale. I think this test went well for an average sized fight. It would be more interesting with 1000ppl or so, like most large battles in TQ.

Audio enabled? yes, including voice. but take like 5mn to join the fleet chanel, then clear voices of the FC and team
Brackets turned on? yes (to stress test)
Average FPS during the test(s): mostly around 1-3 fps, even when zoomed all the way out, never could switch back to no bracket to test in that conditions though.
Desyncs: some actions took minutes to respond (guns, targeting, switching target, drones orders)
Performance: 3 (I haven't participated in TQ fleet battles, but tried a previous Sisi test)
Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.: Jumps took 1 to 2 minutes but the grid loaded this time (but slowly). Moving on the field was a nightmare but was able to pick up targets (sometimes 10 mn after the lock command). At the end (mine) never saw my shields lowering though, i got the hit and damages notifications, got the low shields alarm twice then the UI froze on the BC view and never reflected the loss of the ship... First the wallet blinked, then the mail icon, then a couple of minutes later the ship was "out of control". When finally I tried to engage warp, I got the change to pod capacitor but still with the ship modules buttons (got a pod with heavy guns for a handfull of minutes! visually distracting, but of course couldn't use them). I was really surprized to see that the ship UI was so dependant on the lag (delays from the events are understandable, but the switch to pod and generally the reactivity of the whole UI should not be so lag dependant???)

This test somehow had mixed results for me. While the graphics worked mostly ok, the fleet window still was a cause of trouble. The trick to switch to fleet history close and reopen still works to improve fps still works, showing that the underlying problem is not solved. had a long traffic control wait time of more than 2 minites with the first jump, still 30s with the second. Module reaction was a bigger problem than before. Whatever was changed, it changed to the worse. Switching targets normally costed more than a minute, switching on and off modules was totally random. Bering a ewar target I was unable to find out the causing ship. Overview still jumped around a lot, though I had the impression it looked a little more stable than usual.

When people were joining the fleet in large numbers that created massive lag, comparable or even worse then fleet fights. The first mass jump into Poitot created a 2-minute black screen/traffic control message. A similar problem was present in the WMC jumpin, first about a minute in the origin system with 3 outstanding events, then a minute in the target system with 6 outstanding events.
Once the grid had loaded modules were reasonlably reponsive with using the gun icon trick. With autorepeat off clicking the gun icon after an activation would allow me to fire guns at a rate comparable to normal. Not clicking the gun icon would leave the gun in a loop of the activation circle animation. If a target was destroyed the gun would also remain stuck until the module was clicked.
The whole experience indicates to me there is a serious issue with server load and gang bonuses. On a mass jump in the session change on all the pilots involved and resulting recalculations of ship attribute values slows the game down to a crawl. Combined with the presence of an enemy fleet on grid it stops all together for several minutes.

Happened e.g. when someone warped in or out of grid. In the first jump, it took a long time to get to the other system: Traffic control blocked me for 2 minutes. Loaded grid reasonably fast after I actually cynoed, no emergency warp.

Audio : Yes
Brackets turned on and off alternatively, Framerate dropped drastically with brackets from 40fps to about 15
Average FPS during the test was about 30fps when fully outzoomed and 0.5-0.9 when fully zoomed in
Did you notice any desyncs during the test? I have been running 2 clients simultaneously and one of them (alternatively random) crashed during the test. After 5 reboots of one of the clients I stopped playing with two accounts and only ran 1 in full screen which worked fine.
The jump into Polito (?) took about 2 mins and the grid loaded pretty well.
Then I tried to move on and jump into the next system. The jump was recorded but the gid never loaded, after about 15 minutes of waiting I have then shut down the system and went to bed :).
I have logged the session, where can I send the log to?
On a rate 1-10 I would give it a 7.

Please Please Please redo the sensor booster effect, in mass groups it is horrible for fps although I had effects turned off.
Did not load grid after jumping in to the battle test although I did receive slight damage at one point. After about 5 - 10 minutes I relogged and warped to the gate and loaded grid in 5 seconds. Modules had to be set to manual fire but lag was low compared to some tq battles.

* Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc. Experienced some Module activation lag of about 5 seconds, triage worked almost instantly a few times tho. Had to manually cycle remote reps and shield transfers all the time. Manual cycling worked more responsive than expected. After cynoing to X-B station I tweaked some overview Settings and after closing the settings window HUD showed warping. By the looks of it the ship (carrier) was just floating next to station motionless. It made no attempts of accelerating and at attempting to stop warp it said can't do that while warping. Relogging brought up a login queue, but eventually fixed the stuck issue. Drones have been responsive, but looked like they would've needed manual cycling as well to actually do much.

Describe your experience; make comments, suggestions, etc.
Starting from the station in FD-MLJ, FPS were fine at around 30 to 60 and I was able to align and warp to the X-BV gate.
Arriving at the gate my FPS flatlined and became a slide show so I turned off fPlayers in my fleetF, all brackets, dropped the Shader to Low, Texture to Medium, LOD to Low and turned off Dither, Shadows, HDR, and Bloom (if not already off).
This allowed my FPS to return to around 15 to 20 but every time the overview updated (when a new ship warped in) there was a huge blip in the FPS to 1 or 2 and back up again.
Warping from X-BV into Poitot was OKFish but arriving at the F67E-Q gate in Poitot again caused the FPS to almost flatline due to the amount of overview updating going on. A Note Here: hitting [Ctrl]+[F9] to remove all windows returned the FPS to around 50 and the display of all the ships was smooth and fun to watch, no blips, lag or anything.
Jumping through the gate caused a delay message to fPlease wait 2 min 30 sec to jumpF. After jumping I arrived to a black screen, after about 5 mins this cleared to show my ship Ewarping to a safe spot and then warping back to the gate again with no control by me.
The engagement was finterestingF and I was able to target and fire at 5 targets. However I had to turn off auto-repeat on my missile launchers and fire them manually to get off consistent volleys.
Just after the end of the test I was DCFd with a fSocket ClosedF error.

Audio was enabled. Brackets all off. Average FPS was 50 when zoomed out 100%, 10-20 when zoom was increased so ships were visible. No desyncs during test that I could tell.
Overall score: 5.5/10
This test went better than expected. While everyone else was loading grid I was able to fly around and lock targets. Ship and weapon delay was approx. 30 seconds, neither me or my targets took visible damage though hit messages would sometimes appear. After 5-10 minutes lag decreased dramatically and I was able to fight in real-time (some were still loading grid at this time). Also, EVE Voice was not working until 15 minutes into the test, however there was no indication that I had joined EVE Voice, besides hearing people talk (i.e. no speech lights on players).

rAverage FPS during the test(s) Zoomed in, about 10, zoomed out, about 20
r Nope
r Before the fleet formed up, i would say 10, but during the fight, it droped to a 1
All in all was nice and fun. Fleet jumped in a little early but oh well. Main problem was moduel's and thier cycle's. I had to turn my cycle's off before another volley would fire. For ever 10 cycle's i got off one volley.

- Did you have Audio enabled? YES (EVE Voice as well)
- Did you have brackets turned on? No
- Average FPS during the test(s) During fleet prep in X-BV98, with all ships on grid, FPS was ~55. When my Fleet (W) cyno'd into MHC-R3, onto the F67E-Q Gate, in preparation for Fleet X to jump through, FPS dropped to ~40. When Fleet X jumped into Fleet X, FPS dropped significantly to an average of 2 FPS during combat.
- Did you notice any desyncs during the test? No difficulties were encountered until actual combat began. At that point there was significant desync. Even with Auto Repeat OFF, weapons systems would continue to show GREEN with the cycle timer repeating, even though only one volley was fired. Manually clicking on the grouped weapons would turn the icon RED, but it would generally continue to cycle one or two more times before returning to an OFF status, so that I could fire a volley again.
- On a scale of 1-10, how would you compare FPS and performance between this test and TQ? (1=way worse, 5=same, 10=OMG this is awesome) - Well I'm afraid I haven't been in any fleet combat this size on TQ within the last year or so, so I can't give a reasonable comparison.
- Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc. I had fun, aside from the few jerks who just can't seem to listen to anyone with a CCP, BH, or GM tag in front of their names. Overall, I think it was ran well (even if it did take more than an hour, but I'll chalk that up to people not listening). I think it would help if you made it quite strictly clear who will be in charge (too many A-type personalities in this game, and every one of them wanted to run the fleet their way). And make it clear that orders will be followed, or people will get moved/booted because they're disrupting the test. Although, to be honest, idiots not listening and being disruptive does simulate TQ more closely...

* Audio : On * Brackets : Off * Average FPS : ~4 * Desyncs : no * FPS and performance between this test and TQ : 6 * Describe your experience : - When both fleet jumped into Poitot I got a timer of 2:30, when it reached 0, I jump to Poitot in no more than 10s - When firing, firing animation worked as green animation on turret button but ammo didn't decrease, I had to turn it off (~30s), turn it on (~10s) etc. I switched to auto-repeat off but it didn't work, I still had to turn it off manually, then on again (all my turrets were linked). - I had to lock targets 2 or 3 times before it actually works and I wasn't jammed - When my ship get destroyed it took 3min to get in my POD, I could see my armor getting repaired and my shield recharging even if she was actually destroyed.

Log server decided to eat over a gig of memory, killed both clients when my alt lost a ship, causing my main to lose a mach. Overall not a good day.
Jumps into systems were refreshingly speedy, though. _____ ^ That is a sig line. It should be there without me having to put one in. |
