Can someone explain the grouping in station thing? I tried it and I kept getting the "There is already something in that location" messege

Edited by: Eric Policky on 23/02/2010 01:10:44 A) I believe you can only group guns. B) unload your guns before you group them.
edit: C) be sure you hold shift while dragging one gun onto the other

I played for about 3-4 months before finding out that you could group guns (I was in a BC at the time, mashing F1-F7 every time I want to kill something was annoying).
Only this week I found out that when you're not moving, you have no mass and no inertia, so you can move in any direction instantaneously. I used to orbit gates at 500-1500m, and I always wondered why other pilots beat me to the decloak/point/whatever, even when I was closer and/or slightly faster.
I didn't know that you could double click an item in the overview to approach or open.

Mine was the session timer. Undocking with a pirate outside thinking that if I just spammed the re-dock I would be ok. Apparently said spamming counted as an action and therefore made me targetable with roughly 30s to go and my outgate align was awful.
Now today I ride the session timer on a razor, sliding past situations that would have the more timid pilots of Eve terrified.
This was a few years ago though...

A Good 5 years ago just undocking with my spanky new noob shift it took me a few weeks to realise you actually had to put crystals in those shiny new lasers and I'd wondered why killing rats was proving to be so ineffective.
Oh and taking my first Prophecy BC which looked so awesome into a lvl 4 thinking Heavy Anode Pulse Particle Streams and T1 active tank should easily be enough

I learned about jetcan ownership the hard way
I was in my shiny new Burst I got from a tutorial. A guy in a rifter asked me to hold onto something for him. He jettisoned some ammo and I picked it up...

Right clicking a gate on overview and selecting "Add as First Waypoint" sets destination to that system allowing you to hit warp then click Autopilot then do whatever you need to do in-game while you WTZ then autopilot to the next system.
Just a minor convenience I figured out a year ago.

Another tidbit: Pressing Ctrl + Space to stop your ship after undocking does not void your invulnerability timer. If you want to redock, do this and pray you dont get bumped before the session timer ends. ------------------------ Peace through superior firepower: a guiding principle for uncertain times. |

I have a horribly embarassing one :(
Was looking to buy a Pithum A-Type Medium SB. Only found one with a buyout. 1.25bil, 200mil more than the cheapest auction. Anyway I refused to wait for one of the 13 days remaining contracts to run close enough to the end to bid, so I went ahead and bought the 1.25bil one out.
Day later I find out they're "Item Exchanges", and you can retreive them instantly upon payment.
I hate myself.

I learned that while even being cloaked you can click on your ship in a certain area and get the little square box to pop up so you can use D-Scan, gawd uncloaking clicking your ship then recloaking was really annoying

Posting with alt to save someones blushes.
A corpie informed me that she had an alt that was the same age as her main, some 18 months, I asked why I had never seen them both on at the same time and made enquiries as to whether or not her pc was capable of dual boxing.... she stated that she couldn't be bothered to download another client version of eve and yes, she is blonde.

Took me a week or so to realise that you can change direction in space by clicking the way you want to go. Up until then I was only able to fly towards targets. Still do that in combat tbh . :)

When you're invulnerable like this, you cannot be bumped. Nor can you be targetted or affected by smartbombs or other area effects.
Also, someone mentioned standing still and having no mass or inertia. This is false, you just don't have to overcome any inertia in the wrong direction if you're holding still.
"Passive aligning" is a myth, it doesn't matter what direction your ship model points. If you're holding still, you'll align and warp in any direction equally fast.
However, if you're holding still, its much easier to track you, and any other ship standing still will have perfect tracking on you, and fragile frigates will go boom even to battleship-sized guns. That's why small ships generally orbit a gate.

Edited by: Di atos on 24/02/2010 16:11:24 I do not want to tell you how long I played Eve before I figured out how scanning worked. I am not talking about probing.
You set the distances to 9999999999 and click set active scanner. This shows you all non cloaked ships in a system. You can also narrow the direction in which you scan.
Lets say 10 Degrees. You will scan in a ten degree point from the front of your ship. It takes awhile to get a hang of it. The weird thing is your scan is based on which way your screen is facing. You can press alt and use the little square that represents your self as a quasi targeting system.
It is difficult to explain but it works. Ask someone in your corp for training.

I should of put that it was limited in distance but I can never remeber the max. So I always put 99999999 just to make sure its maxed.

HOW?!?!?!!?!?!?!
Open the fitting screen, make sure you don't have ammo loaded, click and drag the guns/launchers onto each other. Just like in space.
Are you for serious?! omg /facepalm. Almost a year and a half of playing and I never knew you could group in station....ffs. -.-" Thanks for the info lol --------------
