The pyerite market (I have only noticed it in Jita, but I'm sure it is elsewhere) has been going up for about 6 months now, and has reached over 7 isk per unit in Jita. From the PH in The Forge for Pyerite, it seems to be settling down now, although I don't think it has stopped growing yet. Will it stay at this amount of spike again in the near future? Thoughts?

A mineral type has a price, on a market. Buy my stockpile.

Yes. I'm sure every trader and miner has noticed. Read the posts in the Science and Industry forum about mineral prices.
I've still got sources at around 5 ISK. Jita is overpriced and the prices follow the upward trend with a lag in other regions.
If you think about this you might work out how to make a profit from it... ;)

Nah, it's already high and it's nonsustainable. Either it will come a bit down or high ends drop even more. In any case tritanium will rise a bit more. Current price of pyerite seems to be supported mostly by heavy speculation by the usual market lemmings who get on board when opportunity has already passed.
Take this with grain of salt I do have sometimes agenda.

It was obvious months ago that the mineral basket would rise to about its current level (or higher); in fact it is surprising it took this long.
It was also clear that pyrite would bear a large amount of the rise, as the hardest mineral to source in the amounts/ratios needed for BS insurance fraud.
That it would rise as high as it did was a surprise to me (I sold out too early), although other people probably saw it coming.
The price of the mineral basket as a whole IS sustainable: we're at the exact point where some people will still find insurance fraud worthwhile while other major players will start winding down.
The proportion of that basket that is pyrite is surprisingly high, I'm not sure whether or not its sustainable. The people who know best are the large builders, and they probably aren't going to talk about it here for obvious reason.

Current buy price mineral basket is just over 112.
That will essentially shut down any insurance fraud occuring, with the price of BPC's >1M ISK there is no profit in it after the logistics hassle.
The minerals in the basket may all increase, but there will certainly be more moves inside the basket. Mex, Trit and Pye can't all go north. One is heading for a fall.
Mass reprocessing is becoming popular again, and that will move at least one of the trit/pye/mex triumvirate down.
A nice shout out to all the noobs selling frigs/cruisers below reprocess, specifically the seller of the 247 kestrels I picked up and melted.

Anecdotally, my experience suggests Mex will suffer the most, though Pye seems awfully extended where it is now.
