Edited by: Mirana Niranne on 26/01/2010 03:01:00 How long would it take to get from Earth to Alpha Centauri, roughly 4 light years away traveling at 3 AU/s? Assuming of course, that there are no jump gates to speed things along, and my capacitor could handle doing the whole trip in 1 warp.
It's an idle, pointless question I suppose, but should I have a dream tonight that I'm flying a thorax to explore the galaxy from earth, I'd like to know when to set my alarm for. Phear the PHAIL |

So a little over a day, probably closer to two once you count cap recharging

Have you ever tried to warp a long distance without enough cap? It's gonna take a lot longer then 2 days, my guess would be about 7. ----------------------------------------------- Free Trade Corp - Flash page

Sweet... I suppose it would be more prudent to take a Raptor then, 13.5 AU/s would make up for the cap recharging I should think, just not as much trunk space. |

Ran the numbers in quick fit. A thorax with 3 large capacitor batteries II. 3 warp core optimizers Is and lows filled with Cap power relay IIs can warp 4385.7 AUs and recharge its cap completely on the way there.
92,013.72 / 4385.7 = 20.98
So the thorax will make it in 21 warps
Someone run the acceleartion time on those, cause my attention span is officially exceeded.

I'm not sure I've ever seen the accelleration rate of any ship posted anywhere... maybe a dev knows, but assuming say 10 seconds to full accell, 10 seconds for decel, then 10 seconds to account for interface lag, and re-alignment/accelleration to 75% engine speed, that should add another 10.5 minutes? I punched in the wrong value into the calculator It should be 276041.167 / 4385.7 = 62.9412 meaning 63-64 warps depending on the position of earth
while Im here though I present to you the ultimate long warper

Nothing, not even a cov-ops can match that warp range. And it can fit a cov-ops cloak and cyno to boot and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Is there any grid left on that thing for some weapons... I mean, we need to consider hostile aliens or space pirates with warp scramblers... well, unless you have a cap fleet waiting to cyno to you once you get there. Phear the PHAIL |

If you must know, you can fit 3 heavy electron blasters II and 5 hammer head IIs The problem is CPU rather then then grid the emergent thingy allows you fit a sisters expanded scan probe launchers Of course, this is an epic fail fit for anything shooty, hence the cov-ops cloak. Not that its suppose to work at all.... and further more why do i even need a sig? |

I've warped 1 light year in a pod once. It took about 6 hours, over a dozen jumps.
If you are wondering why - I accidentally e-warped my pod to a super safe back in the day and after the first half hour warp I figured what the heck and kept going.
I still have the place bookmarked and as far as I've noticed it was unaffected by the super-safe BM bug fix.

So he warped to the safespot in one e-warp, and then had to use over 6 hours to get back? Why not just e-warp back?

I remember when CCP Weirdfish sent someones Ragnarok 50k AU from the FD-MLJ station, he made a BM too. After about 1000 AU you can see things that are 1000s of AU away. Was even better when we tricked a freighter pilot into doing it...

So what's at 1000AU? (Also shouldn't the overall look of the system be the same anyway? Just relative positions of celestials changing <- ok bad wording but you know what i mean)
